Having heard the news of how those elephants had trampled [him] to death, he went there immediately. Embracing his son's bones in his lap, he wept and uttered cries of suffering. The divine son saw him and said to him: "Father, please do not grieve, do not be sad, do not sit in suffering, do not lament." The Brahmin said: "Who are you?" He said: "I am your son." He said: "Where were you born?" He said: "I was born in the heavens." He said: "What deeds did you do?" He said: "I paid homage to this stupa and generated a happy mind." "You too, abandon your former views and pay homage to this stupa and generate a happy mind. If you do so, you will become the source of all good." Having said this, the divine son disappeared immediately. Then, having heard those words, that Brahmin was no longer saddened by the loss of his son, and he became very happy with that stupa. Having become happy, he made great offerings to that stupa and prayed: "Alas, may I, through this root of virtue, be born wherever I am born, into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family. May I, relying on this son, please the Buddha, the Blessed One, who is the Fully Enlightened Light-Protecting Buddha, who prophesied the Brahmin boy, the supreme one. May I not displease him." Monks, what do you think? The one who was the Brahmin's leading son at that time was none other than this Brahmin boy. The one who was the 'gone beyond' at that time was none other than this Brahmin, because of the maturation of the karma of that boy's homage to the stupa and his prayers, wherever he was born, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, with a good appearance, pleasing to look at, beautiful, having understood all the scriptures, having defeated all opponents with reason. Monks, I am equal to the Fully Enlightened Light-Protecting Buddha, extremely equal, equal in power, equal in deeds, and equal in means.

Having attained that, because this pleased me and did not displease me, and I myself, having renounced in my own doctrine, having abandoned all afflictions, realized the state of an Arhat. After his father had venerated that stupa, due to the ripening of the karma of his aspiration, wherever he was born, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family. Just because of this son, this pleased me and did not displease me. The Hundred Karmas, Volume Twenty-one, called Va. The origin of the story is that the Buddha was residing in Shravasti (Nyendu Yodpa). At that time, in Shravasti, there lived a wealthy, rich, and prosperous householder, with vast possessions, possessing the wealth of Vaishravana, rivaling the wealth of Vaishravana. He, due to circumstances, took a wife, and together with her, he played, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness. Later, his wife became pregnant, and her body began to emit the odor of feces, and such a desire arose in her mind: she thought she would eat and drink feces and urine. Then, she said to her husband, 'Lord, such a desire has arisen in my mind.' As soon as he heard that, the householder felt great pain, thinking, 'Has my wife been possessed by some foul-smelling ghost?' So, he showed her to the soothsayers. The soothsayers said, 'Your wife is not possessed by a foul-smelling ghost, but it is due to the being in her womb. When he is born, this woman's body will no longer have the odor of feces, nor will she have such desires.' As soon as he heard that, the householder immediately anointed his wife's body with various perfumes, and fearing that she would eat and drink feces and urine, he appointed attendants and guardians for the woman. After nine or ten months, she gave birth to a boy covered in feces and urine. As soon as he was born, the whole house was immediately filled with the odor of feces. The women washed the boy and put him on the bed, but the odor of feces did not disappear from his body. The mother put the boy
