ཐེ་ཚོམ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ། ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་ཀྱིས་བསླབ་པ་ཉམས་པར་བྱས་ཏེ་ཆང་འཐུངས་ན། དེའི་འགྲོ་བ་ནི་གང་ཡིན་སྐྱེ་གནས་ནི་གང་ཡིན་ཚེ་ཕྱི་མ་ནི་གང་ཡིན་ཞིག་གུ་མ་ལ་བདག་ཅག་གིས་དོན་འདི་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་ཞུས་པ། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བདག་ཅག་ལ་ཇི་སྐད་ལུང་བསྟན་པ་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་གཟུང་བར་བྱའོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །དེ་ནས་ཤཱཀྱ་མང་པོ་དག་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ག་ལ་བ་དེར་དོང་སྟེ་ལྷགས་ནས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ལ་མགོ་བོས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏེ་ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཁོད་དོ། །ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཁོད་ནས་ཤཱཀྱ་མང་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །བཙུན་པ་ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་ཀྱིས་བསླབ་པ་ཉམས་པར་བགྱིས་ཏེ་སྐྱེམས་འཚལ་ན། བཙུན་པ་དེའི་འགྲོ་བ་ནི་གང་ལགས་སྐྱེ་གནས་ནི་གང་ལགས་ཚེ་ཕྱི་མ་ནི་གང་ལགས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། གྲོགས་པོ་དག་ལྷར་སྐྱེས་སོ། །དེ་དག་གིས་གསོལ་པ། བཙུན་པ་ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་ཀྱིས་བསླབ་པ་ཉམས་པར་བགྱིས་ཏེ་སྐྱེམས་འཚལ་ན། དེ་ཇི་ལྟར་ལྷར་སྐྱེས་ལགས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་ཀྱིས་འཆི་ཀར་བསླབ་པ་ཉམས་པ་བཤགས་ཏེ། རྒྱུན་དུ་ཞུགས་པའི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་ནས་ལྷར་སྐྱེས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་དེ་ཐོས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་ཤཱཀྱ་རྣམས་ཡ་མཚན་དུ་གྱུར་ཏེ། དེ་དག་རྣམས་ཡ་མཚན་དུ་གྱུར་ནས་ཡང་སྨྲས་པ། ཀྱེ་མ་སངས་རྒྱས། ཀྱེ་མ་ཆོས། ཀྱེ་མ་དགེ་འདུན། ཀྱེ་མ་ཆོས་ལེགས་པར་གསུངས་པ་འདི་ལྟར་ངན་སོང་དུ་འགྲོ་བའི་སེམས་ཅན་དག་ཀྱང་ངན་སོང་ ནས་ཕྱུང་སྟེ། མཐོ་རིས་སུ་འགྲོ་བར་བྱེད་དོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་ནས། ལྷག་པར་ཡང་སངས་རྒྱས་དང་ཆོས་དང་དགེ་འདུན་ལ་བཀུར་སྟི་བྱེད་པ་ལ་ཞུགས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་དགེ་སློང་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་གསོལ་པ། བཙུན་པ་ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་འཆི་བས་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་པ་ལས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་འཆི་བའི་འཇིགས་པ་ལས་སྐྱབས་མཛད་དེ། གཡུང་དྲུང་གི་མཐར་ཐུག་པ་གྲུབ་པ་དང་བདེ་བའི་མྱ་ངན་ལས་འདས་པ་ལ་བཞག་པ་ལ་གཟིགས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། ད་ལྟར་འབའ་ཞིག་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཇི་ལྟར་འདས་པའི་དུས་ན་ཡང་འདི་འཆི་བས་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་ནས། ཞག་བདུན་བསླབ་པ་བསྲུངས་ཏེ། གཞི་དེ་ལས་མཐོ་རིས་སུ་སྐྱེས་པ་དེ་ཉོན་ཅིག། དགེ་སློང་དག་སྔོན་བྱུང་བ་འདས་པའི་དུས་ན། བསྐལ་པ་བཟང་པོ་འདི་ཉིད་ལ་སྐྱེ་དགུའི་ཚེ་ལོ་ཉི་ཁྲི་ཐུབ་པ་ན། ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་རིག་པ་དང་ཞབས་སུ་ལྡན་པ། བདེ་བར་གཤེགས་པ། འཇིག་རྟེན་མཁྱེན་པ། སྐྱེས་བུ་གདུལ་བྱའི་ཁ་ལོ་སྒྱུར་བ། བླ་ན་མེད་པ། ལྷ་དང་མི་རྣམས་ཀྱི་སྟོན་པ་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་འོད་སྲུང་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་འཇིག་རྟེན་དུ་བྱུང་སྟེ། དེའི་ཚེ་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་བཱ་རཱ་ཎ་སཱིར་ཚོང་པ་དབུལ་པོ་ཞིག་འདུག་པ་དེས། ཕྱི་ཞིག་ན་ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་གི་བསྟན་པ་ལ་དད་པ་རྙེད་དོ། །ཚོང་པ་དེ་ཡང་སྦྱིན་པ་ལ་སྲེད་པ་ཞིག་སྟེ། སྦྱིན་པ་དག་སྦྱིན་ཞིང་བསོད་ནམས་དག་བྱེད་འདོད་ནས་དེས་བསམས་པ། ཅི་བདོག་པ་འདི་ཙམ་གྱིས་ནི་བདག་གིས་སྦྱིན་པ་དག་སྦྱིན་ཞིང་བསོད་ནམས་དག་བྱེད་མི་ནུས་ཀྱིས། བདག་གིས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་གྲུ་བོ་ཆེའི་དོན་བསྒྲུབ་བོ། །གལ་ཏེ་བདག་གིས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་གྲུ་བོ་ཆེའི་དོན་ལན་ཅིག་ཙམ་ཞིག་བསྒྲུབ་པར་ནུས་ན་ཡང་། བདག་གིས་ཕ་མའི་བདུན་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་བར་དུ་དར་བར་བྱེད་ནུས་པར་འགྱུར་རོ་སྙམ་དུ་བསམས་ནས། ཟོང་ཁྱེར་ཏེ་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཆེན་པོར་ཞུགས་ནས། དེས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་གྲུ་བོ་ཆེའི་དོན་བསྒྲུབས་ཏེ། སྦྱིན་པ་དག་སྦྱིན་ཞིང་བསོད་ནམས་དག་བྱེད་པ་ལ་ཞུགས་སོ། །དེ་ཡང་ཚེ་ཐུང་སྟེ། ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་གིས་དེ་ཉིད་སྐྱོ་བ་ བསྐྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར། ཞག་བདུན་ན་འཆི་བར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་དགེ་སློང་རྣམས་ལ་བཀའ་སྩལ་ཏེ། དགེ་སློང་དག་ཚོང་པ་ཆེ་གེ་མོ་ནི་ཞག་བདུན་ན་འཆི་བར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་བཀའ་སྩལ་ནས། སྒྲ་དེ་འབྲུ་མར་བཙིར་བ་བཞིན་དུ་ཀུན་ཏུ་གྲགས་སོ། །ཚོང་པ་དེས་ཀྱང་ཐོས་ནས། ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་གིས་ཇི་ལྟར་བདག་ཞག་བདུན་ན་འཆི་བར་འགྱུར་རོ། །ཞེས་ལུང་བསྟན་པ་དེ་ཐོས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ། དེ་འཆི་བའི་འཇིགས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ། དེ་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་ནས་དེ་ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་ག་ལ་བ་དེར་དོང་སྟེ་ཕྱིན་ནས། སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་འགྲོ་བ་དང་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་རྣམས་བླངས་ནས། དེ་ཤི་འཕོས་ཏེ་དུས་ལས་འདས་ནས་ལྷར་སྐྱེས་སོ། །དགེ་སློང་དག་ཇི་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས། དེའི་ཚེ་ཚོང་པར་གྱུར་པ་གང་ཡིན་པ་དེ་ནི་ཤཱཀྱ་མདའ་ཐོགས་འདི་ཁོ་ན་ཡིན་ཏེ། དེའི་ཚེ་ཡང་འདི་འཆི་བས་འཇིགས་ཞིང་སྐྲག་ནས་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་རྣམས་བསྲུངས་ཏེ་མཐོ་རིས་སུ་སྐྱེས་སོ། །ད་ལྟར་ཡང་འདི་འཆི་བས་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་ནས། སྐྱབས་སུ་འགྲོ་བ་དང་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་རྣམས་བསྲུངས་ཏེ་གཞི་དེ་ལས་མཐོ་རིས་སུ་འགྲོ་བ་དང་ཐར་བར་འགྲོ་བ་ཐོབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ།། །།བརྫིས་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི། གླེང་གཞི་མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པ་ན་བཞུགས་ཏེ།

生起疑惑，如果释迦箭垛（Śākya-madāthogs）违犯戒律而饮酒，他的去处是哪里？生处是哪里？来世是哪里？我们须弥山（Śikhigumāla）将此事禀告于世尊。世尊如何为我们授记，就应如是受持。说完之后，许多释迦族人前往世尊所在之处，抵达后，以头顶礼世尊之足，然后坐于一旁。坐于一旁后，许多释迦族人向世尊禀告说：尊者释迦箭垛违犯戒律而饮酒，尊者他的去处是哪里？生处是哪里？来世是哪里？世尊开示说：诸位朋友，已生于天界。他们问道：尊者释迦箭垛违犯戒律而饮酒，他是如何生于天界的呢？世尊开示说：释迦箭垛临终时忏悔了违犯戒律的行为，获得了入流果，因此生于天界。听到这些后，释迦族人立刻感到惊讶。他们感到惊讶后又说：奇哉佛陀！奇哉正法！奇哉僧伽！奇哉正法被善说，像这样，也能将堕入恶道的众生从恶道中救拔出来，使之升往天界。说完后，他们更加致力于恭敬佛、法、僧。之后，众比丘向佛陀世尊禀告说：尊者释迦箭垛因死亡而恐惧害怕，世尊您已从死亡的恐惧中救护了他，请看他已安住于永恒的究竟成就和安乐的涅槃之中。世尊开示说：不仅是现在如此，过去世他也因死亡而恐惧害怕，守护了七日戒律，你们听着，他因此因缘而生于天界。比丘们，过去世，在此贤劫中，当众生的寿命能活到两万岁时，有正等觉佛，具足明行足，善逝，世间解，

Having doubts, if Śākya-madāthogs violates the precepts and drinks alcohol, where will he go? Where will he be born? What will be his next life? We, Śikhigumāla, will report this matter to the Blessed One. We should uphold whatever the Blessed One prophesies for us. After saying this, many Śākyas went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving, they bowed to the Blessed One's feet with their heads and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, many Śākyas said to the Blessed One: Venerable Śākya-madāthogs has violated the precepts and is drinking alcohol. Venerable, where will he go? Where will he be born? What will be his next life? The Blessed One said: Friends, he has been born in the heavens. They asked: Venerable, Śākya-madāthogs has violated the precepts and is drinking alcohol, how has he been born in the heavens? The Blessed One said: Śākya-madāthogs confessed his violation of the precepts at the time of death, and having attained the fruit of stream-entry, he was born in the heavens. Having heard this, the Śākyas were immediately amazed. Having been amazed, they said again: Alas, Buddha! Alas, Dharma! Alas, Sangha! Alas, the Dharma has been well-spoken, like this, even beings who go to the lower realms can be rescued from the lower realms and made to go to the higher realms. After saying this, they engaged even more in honoring the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Then, the monks said to the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable Śākya-madāthogs was afraid and frightened by death, and the Blessed One has protected him from the fear of death. Look, he has been placed in the ultimate accomplishment of eternity and the bliss of Nirvana. The Blessed One said: It is not only now, but in the past, he was also afraid and frightened by death, and having kept the precepts for seven days, listen to how he was born in the heavens from that basis. Monks, in the past, in this very Fortunate Aeon, when the lifespan of beings was able to reach twenty thousand years, there was a Fully Enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World,

The guide who tames beings, the unsurpassed, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named Light appeared in the world. At that time, there lived a poor merchant in the city of Varanasi, who later developed faith in the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light. That merchant was also someone who craved generosity. He wanted to give alms and do good deeds, so he thought: With just these things I have, I cannot give alms and do good deeds. I will do the business of a great ocean voyage. If I can do the business of a great ocean voyage even just once, I will be able to enrich my parents for seven generations. Thinking this, he took goods and entered the great ocean, did the business of a great ocean voyage, and began to give alms and do good deeds. However, his life was short, and in order for the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light to make him develop renunciation, (the Buddha) said to the monks: He will die in seven days. Monks, the Buddha Light said that this certain merchant would die in seven days, and this sound spread everywhere like squeezing oil. That merchant also heard it, and as soon as he heard the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light predict that I would die in seven days, he developed a great fear of death. He felt afraid and terrified, so he went to where the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light was, took refuge in the Buddha Light and took the precepts. After he died, he passed away and was reborn as a god. Monks, what do you think? The merchant at that time was none other than this Shakya Staff-holder. At that time, he also guarded the precepts because he was afraid and terrified of death, and thus was reborn in the heavenly realm. Now, he is also afraid and terrified of death, guarding the refuge and the precepts, and thus from that basis he has obtained the opportunity to go to the heavenly realm and attain liberation. The story called "The Trampled One" was told when (the Buddha) was residing in Shravasti.
