Having renounced, abandoning all defilements, may I realize the state of an Arhat. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the monk who became the advisor was none other than this son of the king, Deva Rakshita. He advised according to the Dharma, cultivated the samadhi of loving-kindness, practiced celibacy for one lifetime, and at the time of death, made the aspiration: 'May I please the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light-Protector. May I not displease him. May I renounce in that very teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat.' Therefore, monks, I am extremely similar to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light-Protector, equal in strength, equal in deeds, equal in means. Having attained this, he pleased me and did not displease me, and having renounced in my own teaching, he abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. Because he advised according to the Dharma, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family. Because he cultivated the samadhi of loving-kindness, he became handsome, pleasing to behold, and beautiful. The story called "The Outcaste Boy" is as follows: The Blessed One was residing in the city called Urdhvavijaya, in the grove of Sala trees north of the city. At that time, in the land of Urdhvavijaya, a king named Prabhasa was reigning. In the land called Suvira, a king named Nakshatra was reigning. The two were friendly and intimate, and they exchanged messengers and gifts from time to time. Mangoes were very scarce in the land of King Prabhasa, so the King of Suvira sent many mangoes as gifts to please King Prabhasa. Then King Prabhasa gave some to his consorts, some to his sons, and some to his ministers. Then the cruel King Prabhasa ate the mangoes and had a thought: 'Since there are no mangoes in my land, I will plant these mango seeds.'

Thinking that he would sow in the garden, he took those mango seeds and sowed them in his own garden. Those seeds sprouted before long, and after growing up, they soon became a large garden, and the branches flourished. Later, those trees blossomed and bore fruit, and in order to prevent others from eating those mangoes, King Rab Snang appointed the Chandalas to guard those mangoes. Later, those Chandalas themselves ate those mangoes and proclaimed that a theft had occurred, saying, "These, these were eaten by thieves." Later, the tyrant King Rab Snang became suspicious, thinking, "Could it be that these Chandalas themselves ate these mangoes?" So he sent the king's attendants to search the Chandalas' homes. When they went there, they saw those mango pits. After that, the king's attendants reported to the tyrant King Rab Snang. After that, the tyrant Rab Snang, in his anger, locked the Chandalas and their families in the house, piled grass around the house, set it on fire, and burned it down. In that village, a Chandala boy, ashamed of being a Chandala, fled to the south. After going there, he put on the clothes of a Brahmin and learned the art of making the body invisible. After learning it, he returned to the city. After returning to his home, he saw that the entire village had been burned down. He immediately asked, "Who has ruined this village like this?" They replied, "It was done by the tyrant King Rab Snang." He then said, "Where have my relatives gone?" They replied, "The tyrant King Rab Snang, in his anger, surrounded them with piles of grass and burned them and their families with fire." Upon hearing these words, the boy was overwhelmed with great sorrow, and he thought, "The men indeed committed a crime, and if he punished them according to the law, that would be understandable. But what crime did the children and women commit that they should also be burned to death? Now I too will avenge what that king of the evil times has done." Thinking this, he made himself invisible and went to the king's palace.

After leaving, he struck the king's head with a whip. O evil king, what wrong have these outcasts done to you? The tyrannical King Rabnang said: They have destroyed my mango trees. The outcast boy said: Even if the men have committed a crime, what wrong have the women, boys, and girls done? Now, you wicked king, do what you must do, do what is meaningful! Your days of living are numbered, and you must die in seven days. Having said this, the outcast boy went to the king's palace every day, striking the king and saying: On such and such a day, I will make you disappear. Then, the tyrannical King Rabnang became frightened and terrified. The ministers pleaded: Please appease the divine being! We will pray to the venerable Katyayana. Having said this, the ministers went to the venerable Katyayana and said: Venerable one, if non-humans are harming the king, please protect him. As soon as he heard this, the venerable Katyayana made it impossible for the outcast boy's mantra to appear from then on. Then he thought: Who has rendered my mantra ineffective? So he asked those ministers: Who has saved the king from the fear of non-humans? The ministers replied: The venerable Katyayana has done so. As soon as he heard this, the outcast boy immediately went to where the venerable Katyayana was and said: Venerable one, why have you made my mantra ineffective? Katyayana said: Child, sit down, and I will explain it to you in detail. Then, the outcast boy prostrated at the feet of the venerable Katyayana and sat down in front of him. Then, the venerable Katyayana gradually showed him the Dharma that was in accordance with him. Therefore, the outcast boy, while sitting on that very seat, destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the wisdom vajra, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. He saw the truth, rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and approached the venerable one.
