After guiding him to renounce and ordaining him as a fully ordained monk, he also bestowed teachings upon him. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. Then, the monks beseeched the Blessed One, saying: "Venerable One, King's son Delightful, who was executed for his licentiousness, was liberated by the Blessed One. You see him having achieved the ultimate goal of eternity and placed in the bliss of Nirvana." The Blessed One replied: "Not only now, but also in the past, this one was licentious and was sentenced to death by Brahmadatta, but I saved him. Listen to how I placed him in the four dhyanas and five supernormal powers. Monks, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, King Brahmadatta ruled. At that time, in Varanasi itself, there was a man who was licentious and dissolute. Because of this, the city dwellers were disturbed, and many people seized him and presented him to King Brahmadatta, who ordered him to be executed. The executioners led him to the execution ground, and he was terrified of being killed, looking around, thinking: 'Who will help me in my distress and give me my life?' At that time, in a part of Varanasi, there was a hermit with five supernormal powers, who had great magical power and strength. As he went to Varanasi for alms, the man saw him. As soon as he saw him, he prostrated at his feet and said: 'Hermit, please help me in my distress and grant me my life.' Then the hermit said to the executioners: 'Good people, do not kill this man, release him.' The executioners said: 'Hermit, do we have two heads? Will we release him?' The hermit said: 'Hold him for a while until I meet the king.' Then the hermit went to where King Brahmadatta was and said: 'Great King, do not kill this man, release him.' King Brahmadatta said: 'Hermit, if he renounces, then I will release him.' King Brahmadatta then had the man

Having prevented the yaksha from killing him, he offered him to the hermit. The hermit took him to a place of asceticism, ordained him, and also imparted the teachings. That person also remained in that very place of asceticism, practicing meditation and generating the five superknowledges. Monks, what do you think? Who was the hermit who abided in the conduct of a bodhisattva at that time? It was I. Who was that person at that time? It was the boy Delightful Giving. Who was the king at that time? It was this very King Clear Victory. At that time also, I saved him from being killed by him, ordained him, and established him in the four meditations and the five superknowledges. Now also, I have saved him from being killed by King Clear Victory, and established him in the ultimate accomplishment of Yungdrung and the blissful nirvana. Requested: Venerable one, what deeds did the young Delightful Giving perform? As a result of the ripening of those deeds, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, with a beautiful form, pleasing to behold, and handsome. He also pleased the Blessed One and did not displease him. Having renounced in the Blessed One's teachings, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One said: It is due to the power of aspiration. Venerable one, where did he make the aspiration? Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, when beings lived for twenty thousand years, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the Knower of the World, the Guide of beings, the unsurpassed, the Teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Light Treasury appeared in the world. Having renounced in his teachings, he became a monk in charge of affairs. There, he managed the affairs of the Sangha according to the Dharma, and also generated concentration with a mind of loving-kindness. There, he lived in celibacy for one lifetime, and at the time of death, he made the aspiration: May I please the Buddha, the Blessed One, who is the prediction of the Brahmin boy by the Perfectly Complete Buddha Light Treasury, may I not displease him. In that very teaching of his
