If I could be ordained and receive full ordination, obtaining the status of a Bhikṣu, I would also practice Brahmacharya in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One ordained that householder's son with the words, "Come here, Bhikṣu," and gave him full ordination, and also gave him instructions. He also, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. That Arhat, having become free from the desires of the three realms, possessed a mind that regarded gold and tiles as equal, and the sky and the palm of his hand as indistinguishable, having become as cool as sandalwood soaked, having destroyed the eggshell with wisdom, having obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual correct knowledge, not looking to the gains, attachments, and honors of existence. He became a place of worship, remembrance, and reverence by the gods, including the powerful and their attendants. Having attained the state of an Arhat, he established both parents in the truths, and also placed them in generosity and the distribution of generosity, making that household like a water ditch. Then, the Bhikṣus asked the Blessed One: Venerable One, what deeds did this householder's son perform, that through the ripening of those deeds, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and this one also pleased the Blessed One and did not displease him, and having renounced in the Blessed One's teachings, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an Arhat, and in this way, relying on himself, all the members of the household pleased the Blessed One and did not displease him? The Blessed One said: It is due to the power of aspiration. Bhikṣus, where did he make the aspiration? Bhikṣus, in the past, in a past time, ninety-one kalpas ago, when the lifespan of beings could reach eighty thousand years, there was a Fully Enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Men, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Blessed One, named Vipashyin Buddha, who appeared in the world. When he had completed all the deeds of a Buddha, like firewood being exhausted,

Like a fire, after his body was completely extinguished in the realm of Nirvana without residue, the king of the city of relatives built a stupa for his remains, thinking to erect a life-pillar for the stupa, and many people gathered there. That king proclaimed to those many people: Whoever accumulates a lot of wealth for this stupa, let him erect a life-pillar for this stupa. Then, at that time, a householder's son went to that place, and the householder's son heard that king proclaim in this way. After hearing it, he had this thought: If I accumulate a great deal of wealth for this stupa and erect a life-pillar, I do not have that much wealth. Rather, I should go to my mother and relatives, seek and accumulate wealth. Thinking this, the householder's son prayed to his relatives, and they said: Be firm and diligent, generate great joy, and we will give you as much wealth as you accumulate. Then, as soon as they heard this, the child and the king accumulated more and more, accumulating up to sixty crore gold. Then, that king became unhappy because of this, thinking: What should I do with such harm to myself? He sat there unhappily. Then, the ministers reported: O God, please be firm and diligent, generate great joy, we want to offer wealth to God. That child was also dissuaded by many relatives, saying: You must protect the mind of this king, do not compete with the king. Then, as soon as he heard this, the child gave up. Then, that king became happy because of this, gave that child a great collection of enjoyments, and erected a life-pillar for that stupa, and soon completed everything. He honored that stupa with incense, powder, fragrance, and flowers, and established the festival rituals of that stupa. Then, that householder's son thought: I have dedicated these items of sixty crore gold to this stupa, I

Thinking, "You cannot enjoy this, I will offer everything to this stupa," that boy, together with his relatives, greatly revered the stupa and made aspirations: "By this root of virtue, wherever I am born, may I be born into a family that is rich, has much wealth, and enjoys great prosperity. May I have a good appearance, be pleasing to look at, and be beautiful. May I please such a teacher, and not displease him, and having gone forth in his teachings, may I abandon all afflictions and realize the state of an Arhat." Then, many relatives said to him, "Child, what aspirations did you make?" Then that boy told them everything. As soon as they heard it, they also made aspirations, saying, "We also rely on you alone, may we please such a teacher, and not displease him." Monks, what do you think? The one who was the householder's son at that time is this one here. By the ripening of the karma of his revering the stupa and making aspirations there, wherever he was born, he was born into a family that was rich, had much wealth, and enjoyed great prosperity, and he became handsome, pleasing to look at, and beautiful. Monks, I have attained perfect and complete enlightenment, complete vision, extreme equality, equal strength, equal deeds, and equal means, and this one has pleased me and has not displeased me, and having gone forth in my own teachings, he has abandoned all afflictions and realized the state of an Arhat. Those who were relatives at that time are these relatives here. They made aspirations there, saying, "We also rely on you alone, may we please that Buddha, the Bhagavan, and not displease him." Therefore, monks, these ones have pleased me and have not displeased me. The fourth verse of the summary from the Hundred Karmas is completed. The fifth verse of the summary. The summary is: Ugly, comfortable conduct, Chandala, and extremely good.
