There he practiced celibacy. Then, the Blessed One ordained him with the words, "Come here, monk," and gave him the full ordination, and also gave him teachings. He also, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. That Arhat, having become free from the desire of the three realms, with a mind equal to gold and dung, like the sky and the palm of the hand, cooled like sandalwood soaked in water, having broken the shell of the egg with wisdom, having obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, not looking to the gains, attachments, and honors of existence, became a place of worship, remembrance, and reverence by the gods with their powers and near powers. Then the monks asked the Blessed One: Venerable One, what deeds did this monk commit, that by the ripening of that karma, he was born with eighteen kinds of unpleasant features and that the smell of a corpse emanated from his body? What deeds did he commit that, as soon as he generated the mind of renunciation, the unpleasantness disappeared and he became beautiful? And this one pleased the Blessed One, did not displease him, and having renounced in the teachings of the Blessed One, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat? The Blessed One said: Monks, this is the kind of deed that he himself did and accumulated. Monks, in the past, in a solitary village, there lived a Brahmin who was handsome, pleasing to look at, and beautiful. He, arrogant with the pride of his appearance and youth, despised many ascetics and Brahmins. Then one day he went to the top of his house and sat surrounded by Brahmin boys. When the Buddhas do not appear in the world, the solitary Buddhas, compassionate to the poor and afflicted, living in remote places like rhinoceroses, the sole objects of offerings in the world, appear in the world. A solitary Buddha went to that solitary city for alms and obtained good food and drink. He took it and went to the Brahmin's house.

He went from the doorway to the side of the main road, and the Brahmin saw him. In front of that Brahmin, there was also a pile of ashes and dirt. Thinking to tease him, he kicked the ashes and dirt onto that Pratyekabuddha with his foot, soiling his clothes, body, and alms bowl. When the Pratyekabuddha looked up, the Brahmin was overjoyed and made a hideous face, teasing him with bodily actions. Then, the Pratyekabuddha thought, "This affliction will become more and more severe, I must stop him," and then rose into the sky, displaying miracles such as burning, shining, raining, and lightning. Because ordinary people quickly generate faith through miracles, he prostrated at his feet as if cut by a wooden saw, and said, "Greatly fortunate one, please descend. Please be the savior of me who is sinking into the mire of misdeeds." Then, the Pratyekabuddha also descended to the ground out of compassion for him. The Brahmin invited him into his house, took off those dirty clothes, anointed his body with incense, bathed him with scented water, and offered other Dharma robes. With his own hands, he satisfied him with many clean and excellent foods, expressed his wishes, prostrated at his feet, asked for forgiveness, and prayed, "May I never be the recipient of the karma of harming such a supreme object of offering. By this root of virtue of honoring him, may I be born in a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family wherever I am born. May I please a teacher who is even more excellent than this, and may I not displease him. May I also obtain such qualities. If this hundredfold non-virtuous deed must ripen into a bad result, then, as soon as I generate the mind of renunciation, may I immediately eliminate ugliness and become beautiful." Monks, what do you think? That Brahmin at that time was none other than this Lion's Son, who harmed that Pratyekabuddha.

The complete maturation of that action was that wherever he was born, he was born with eighteen kinds of unsightly features, and foul odors emanated from every pore of his body. He then respectfully made aspirations, saying: "By this root of virtue, may I be born in a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family wherever I am born. May I please the teacher who is even more excellent than this. May I not displease him. May I also attain such qualities as these. Even if this non-virtue, one in a hundred, is certain to ripen into fruit, may all my ugliness disappear and become good as soon as I generate the mind of renunciation." Therefore, monks, he pleased the Buddha, who was even more excellent than hundreds of billions of Pratyekabuddhas, and without displeasing him, he renounced in my own doctrine, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an Arhat, and as soon as he generated the mind of renunciation, all ugliness disappeared and became good. Then the monks asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: "What kind of actions did the venerable Lion General do, that by the complete maturation of those actions, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and that he also pleased the Bhagavan and did not displease him?" The Bhagavan replied: "In the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa, he became a lay follower, and there he gave alms and performed meritorious deeds. For one lifetime, he took refuge and kept the precepts, and at the time of death, he made aspirations, saying: 'Alas! By this root of virtue, may I be born in a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family wherever I am born. May I please the Buddha, the Bhagavan, who was predicted by the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa to be the Brahmin boy, and may I not displease him.' Monks, what do you think? At that time, the lay follower of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa
