On the left and right sides, blue, yellow, red, and white sleeping couches were arranged. Silk canopies were hung, and they were adorned with moons, crescent moons, and mirrors. They were beautified with necklaces, ornamented rings, armlets, garlands, and semodos. They were covered with clusters of various flowers and emanated. There, many people also emanated. Some held umbrellas with a hundred ribs for the Buddha and the Sangha of monks. Some held canopies. Some fanned with fly whisks with golden handles and jeweled handles. Some scattered utpala flowers, lotuses, kumudas, and white lotuses. That son of a Naga made offerings to the Blessed One with incense, powders, perfumes, and flowers, and followed closely behind. In whatever direction the Blessed One wished to rest, he emanated seats in that direction. He also satisfied the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, with mixed drinks, hwags, reed kara, and kara. In whatever direction the Blessed One intended to go, he emanated a temple complete in all aspects in that direction. He also offered perfumed water for washing the feet and perfumed sesame oil for anointing the feet to the monks. Then, on the following day, he satisfied the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, with many clean and excellent foods and drinks, and then again revered the Blessed One, regarded him as supreme, served him, made offerings, and followed closely behind. Then, the Blessed One gradually departed and went to Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar), and resided in the Bamboo Grove Kalandaka Nivasa in Rajagriha. Then, that son of a Naga again draped his upper garment over one shoulder, bowed with his palms joined together in the direction of the Blessed One, and said this to the Blessed One: "If I could offer robes, food, bedding, seats, medicines, and medical supplies in this Bamboo Grove for three months together with the Sangha of monks, Blessed One,

Please grant me permission, O Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One granted permission to the Naga son without saying anything. The Naga son, knowing that the Blessed One had granted permission by not speaking, prepared all the necessities for three months in the grove of light. He served the Sangha of monks, headed by the Buddha, with all necessities. On the final day, he satisfied the Sangha of monks, headed by the Buddha, with food containing a hundred flavors, and offered the Blessed One a garment worth a hundred thousand. He also offered all the necessities to the other monks individually, making their minds faithful, and sat before the ranks. At that time, the Blessed One smiled. This is the nature of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, when they smile. At that time, blue, yellow, red, and white rays of light emanated from his mouth. Some went downwards, and some went upwards. Those that went downwards entered the hells of sentient beings, namely, the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Howling Hell, the Great Howling Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, and the Hell Without Respite, as well as the Blister Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the Sonam Thamma Hell, the Kyihud Hell, the Achu Hell, the hells that split open like Sanskrit Romanization: Utpala, Literal Meaning: Blue Lotus), the hells that split open like lotuses, and the hells that split open like great lotuses. For those sentient beings in the hot hells, it became cool and descended. For those sentient beings in the cold hells, it became warm and descended. Then, the differences in the suffering of those sentient beings were pacified. Then, they thought to themselves: "Have we died and transmigrated from here, or have we been born elsewhere?" Then, in order to generate faith in them, the Blessed One emanated apparitions. Seeing the apparitions, they thought: "Ah, we have neither died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been born elsewhere, but by the power of this unprecedented appearance of sentient beings, the differences in our suffering have been pacified." Then, they became delighted in their minds towards the apparitions, and the karma of sentient beings experiencing hell was exhausted, and wherever among gods and humans
