What kind of food can satisfy them? They said: Please satisfy them with freshly drawn blood. Then the king thought: If beings of this appearance eat such food, then these people are not ordinary humans; these must be non-humans, and I must do as I have vowed to them. I cannot fulfill their food needs without harming the bodies of others, nor can I find freshly drawn blood without harming others. If they can satisfy their food needs with my blood, then I will give them my flesh and blood. Thinking this, he said to those yakshas: Friends, can my blood satisfy your food needs? The yakshas said: God, it can. Then, as soon as he heard this, the king, with the power of loving-kindness, had those yakshas sit before him, and then summoned the doctors and ordered: Come, make five bloodlettings on my body and let these beings be satisfied with blood. The doctors reported: We cannot pierce the body of a god with swords. Then the Bodhisattva thought: These people do not want to see me leave, so I will draw my own blood. Bodhisattvas are skilled in all crafts and activities. He himself took a mirror and made five bloodlettings on his own body, facing each yaksha, and vowed: I will not stop the bloodletting until I have satisfied them. Then the lord of the gods, Indra, thought: Bodhisattvas are steadfast in their vows, and this Bodhisattva has also done an extremely difficult thing. It is not right for the Bodhisattva to suffer for too long. Then I will increase the radiance on his entire body. Thinking this, the lord of the gods, Indra, increased the radiance of the gods on the entire body of the Bodhisattva, and those bloodlettings also became very large. The Bodhisattva also effortlessly satisfied those five radiance-stealing yakshas, and unsurpassed

Having made the aspiration to perfectly complete the right and perfect enlightenment. Alas, with this root of virtue, may I become the guide for the blind in the world, and without a guide, may I liberate those sentient beings who have not been liberated, free those who have not been freed, give breath to those who have not received breath, and completely liberate those who have not completely escaped from suffering, becoming such a Buddha. And having made the aspiration, saying: With this great generosity, may I become the self-born Buddha for beings. May I save from the waters of samsara those who have not been saved by the previous victors. Having said this, when those yakshas felt full and satisfied, and when their senses were satisfied, they said to the Bodhisattva: Great compassionate one, what do you want to accomplish with this effort? The Bodhisattva said: I want to accomplish the unsurpassed, right and perfect enlightenment. They said: Then, when you attain the unsurpassed, right and perfect enlightenment, and when you satisfy beings with nectar, may we become your first Shravaka disciples. The Bodhisattva said: You are killers, taking the lives of others, how can I make such people my first Shravaka disciples? They said: Great compassionate one, what instructions do you have for us? The Bodhisattva said: Correctly take up and abide in the ten paths of virtuous actions. Then, immediately after hearing this, those yakshas took up the ten paths of virtuous actions and made the aspiration, saying: Alas, with this root of virtue, when this one attains the unsurpassed, right and perfect enlightenment, may we become his first Shravaka disciples. Monks, what do you think? The king at that time, who was reborn as Loving Power, abiding in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, that was me. The five yakshas who stole the splendor at that time, those were these five monks of the Sangha. At that time, I also satisfied them with my own flesh and blood, and placed them on the ten paths of virtuous actions. Now I am also
