Having become free from desire. Treating gold and tiles alike. Possessing a mind like the sky and the palm of the hand. Becoming as cool as if smeared with sandalwood. Destroying the shell of the egg with wisdom. Having obtained wisdom and supernormal knowledge, as well as individual perfect knowledge. Turning one's back on worldly gain, attachment, and respect. Becoming a place worshipped, revered, and respectfully praised by the gods with their faculties and near faculties. Then, the monks asked the Blessed One: Venerable one, what deeds did this Brahmin do, that by the ripening of that deed, he sees the barley sprouts growing in the field as golden sprouts? Moreover, he pleased the Blessed One and did not displease the Blessed One. Also, having renounced in the Blessed One's teachings, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One said: Monks, there is a share of past deeds, and there is also a share of present deeds. What is the past deed? Monks, in the past, in this very fortunate eon, when the life span of beings could reach twenty thousand years, there appeared in the world a Fully Enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Blessed One, named Light Treasury. This Brahmin renounced in his teachings. There, he practiced celibacy for one lifetime, and at the time of death, he made the aspiration: In this way, although I practiced celibacy for one lifetime in the teachings of the Fully Enlightened Buddha Light Treasury, I did not obtain any accumulation of merit. May I please that Buddha, the Blessed One, who is the Brahmin boy prophesied by the Fully Enlightened Buddha Light Treasury. May I not displease him. May I renounce only in his teachings, abandon all defilements, and directly realize the state of an Arhat. Monks, what do you think? At that time, in that era, the one who became a monk was none other than this Brahmin. There, he practiced celibacy for one lifetime.

Having acted, he made the aspiration: 'May I please the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, the Light-Protecting Buddha who prophesied the Brahmin boy, may I not displease him. May I only ordain in his teachings, abandon all defilements, and realize the Arhat fruit.' Therefore, monks, I have attained the same state as the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, Light-Protecting Buddha, the same power, the same deeds, the same means, and he has pleased me, not displeased me, only ordained in my teachings, abandoned all defilements, and realized the Arhat fruit, this is the karma of the past. What is the karma of the present? He offered me food and made the aspiration: 'May the stream of my poverty be cut off immediately, may these barley sprouts of mine appear as golden sprouts, and may they also be realized as such, may they not become other.' This is the karma of the present. The story of 'Shiva' is as follows: The Teacher resided in Rajagriha (王舍城). At that time, a Brahmin lived in Rajagriha, who, through circumstances, took a wife, and lived with her, playing, rejoicing, and happily. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a boy who was handsome, pleasing to the eye, and beautiful. They held a grand birth ceremony for him, and named him according to his lineage, and carefully raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and clarified butter. Later, when he grew up, he learned writing, the conduct and behavior of Brahmins, as well as 'Om' (藏文:ཨོཾ།,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:om,汉语字面意思:嗡) and 'Bho' (藏文:བྷོ།,梵文天城体:भो,梵文罗马拟音:bho,汉语字面意思:勃), as well as cleanliness, rituals, taking ashes, holding pills, the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda, the Atharvaveda, and how to perform sacrifices and have others perform sacrifices, as well as giving and receiving, and the methods of reciting and teaching others to recite, and became a Brahmin proficient in six activities. Eventually, he became proficient in eighteen fields of knowledge. Later, one day, that Brahmin

Having developed faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, he took refuge and adopted the precepts. Then, one day, he satisfied the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, with many clean and excellent foods and drinks. He sat before the Buddha to listen to the Dharma. The Blessed One also taught him the Dharma that suited him and then departed. Later, that Brahmin was afflicted with illness, and although he was treated with medicines from roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, he was unable to recover and died. Having died and passed away, he was born among the gods of the Thirty-Three. Then, that son also took out his father's bones from a place not far from the mountain of vulture heaps, burned them, and remained in that cemetery, grieving, suffering, lamenting, beating his chest, crying out, "Father! Father!" and wandering around. As soon as a son or daughter of the gods is born, three thoughts naturally arise: From where did I die, where was I born, and by what karma was I born? Then, he saw that he had died from the human realm, was born in the Thirty-Three, and had shown respect to the Sangha of monks, including the Blessed One, taken refuge, and kept the precepts. Then, the son of the gods, who had previously been a Brahmin, thought to himself: It is not fitting for me to go to see and serve the Blessed One only after I have aged. I should go to see and serve the Blessed One before I age. Then, the son of the gods, who had previously been a Brahmin, wearing earrings and armlets that swayed, his body adorned with necklaces and belts, wearing a crown adorned with various precious jewels, his body smeared with saffron, Tamala leaves, and Kala and other spices, that very night filled a vessel with heavenly Utpala flowers, lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, and Mandarava flowers. He disappeared from among the gods of the Thirty-Three and went before the Blessed One, scattering heavenly Utpala flowers, lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, and Mandarava flowers upon the Blessed One.
