གོང་དུ་ཁྱད་པར་ཐོབ་པར་འགྱུར་རོ། །དེ་ནས་ཕྱི་ཞིག་ན་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་མཽད་གལ་གྱི་བུ་ཆེན་པོ་ཡི་དགས་ཀྱི་ནང་དུ་རྒྱུ་བར་ཆས་ནས། མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པ་ནས་མི་སྣང་བར་གྱུར་ཏེ། རི་བྱིན་ཏྱའི་ནགས་ཁུང་དུ་ཕྱིན་པ་དང་། དེས་དེར་ཡི་དགས་འབར་ཞིང་རབ་ཏུ་འབར་ལ་ཀུན་དུ་རབ་ཏུ་འབར་ཏེ་མེ་ལྕེ་གཅིག་ཏུ་འབར་ལ་དེ་གལ་ཏེ་ཐང་ལ་འགྲོ་ན་ནི་དེའི་ལས་ལས་སྐྱེས་པའི་ལྕགས་ཀྱི་མཆེ་བ་ཅན་གྱི་སེང་གེ་དང་སྟག་དང་གཟིག་དང་དྲེད་ལ་སོགས་པ་འབྱུང་བར་འགྱུར་ཏེ། དེ་དག་གིས་དེའི་ཤ་རྣམས་བཅད་ཅིང་བཅད་ཅིང་ཟ་བར་བྱེད་དེ། རྒྱུ་དེས་ན་དེས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དྲག་པ་དང་མི་བཟད་པ་དང་ཚ་བ་དང་ཡིད་དུ་མི་འོང་བའི་ཚོར་བ་མྱོང་ལ་ཕན་ཚུན་དུ་རྒྱུག་པ་ཞིག་མཐོང་ངོ་། །མཐོང་ནས་ཀྱང་སེམས་པ་ལ་ཞུགས་ཏེ། སེམས་ཅན་འདིས་ལས་ཅི་ཞིག་བྱས་ན་ལས་དེའི་རྣམ་པར་སྨིན་པས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་འདི་ལྟ་བུ་ཉམས་སུ་མྱོང་བར་འགྱུར་ཞིག་གུ་སྙམ་ནས། དེས་བལྟས་ན་ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་གི་གསུང་རབ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་སྟེ། དགེ་སློང་ཞལ་ཏ་བྱེད་པར་གྱུར་ནས་དེས་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་ཞལ་ཏ་བྱེད་པ་ན། དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་དཀོར་དང་མཆོད་རྟེན་གྱི་དཀོར་དང་འཚོ་བ་ནར་མ་དང་ཕྱོགས་བཞིའི་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་དཀོར་ལ་ཅི་དགའ་མགུར་སྤྱད་ལ་གཞན་དག་ལ་ཡང་བྱིན་པ་མཐོང་ངོ་། །དེ་ནས་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་མཽད་གལ་གྱི་བུ་ཆེན་པོས་བསམས་པ་འདིའི་ལས་ནི་བདག་གིས་ཀྱང་ཡང་དག་པར་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་མཐོང་མོད་ཀྱི། འོན་ཀྱང་སྐྱེ་བོ་ཕལ་པོ་ཆེ་སྐྱོ་བ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་བདག་གིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་ཞུའོ་སྙམ་མོ། །རི་བྱིན་ཏྱའི་ནགས་ཁུང་ནས་མི་སྣང་བར་གྱུར་ཏེ། མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པར་སོང་བ་དང་། དེའི་ཚེ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་འཁོར་བརྒྱ་ཕྲག་དུ་མའི་གུང་ལ་བཞུགས་ཏེ་ཆོས་སྟོན་ཏོ། །དེ་ནས་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་མཽད་གལ་གྱི་བུ་ཆེན་པོས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་འཁོར་བརྒྱ་ཕྲག་དུ་མ་ལ་ཆོས་སྟོན་པ་མཐོང་ངོ་། །མཐོང་ནས་ཀྱང་དེས་བསམས་པ། འདི་ནི་བདག་གིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་ཡི་དགས་ཀྱི་ལུང་བསྟན་པ་ཞུ་བའི་དུས་ཡིན་ནོ་སྙམ་ནས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ག་ལ་བ་དེར་སོང་སྟེ་ཕྱིན་ནས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ལ་མགོ་བོས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏེ་ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ཏུ་འདུག་གོ །ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ཏུ་འདུག་ནས་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་མཽད་གལ་གྱི་བུ་ཆེན་པོས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །བཙུན་པ་འདི་ན་བདག་གི་ལུགས་ཀྱིས་དུས་དུས་སུ་སེམས་ཅན་དམྱལ་བར་རྒྱུ་བར་བགྱིད་ཡི་དགས་ཀྱི་ནང་དུ་རྒྱུ་བར་བགྱིད་དུ

Previously, one will obtain distinction. Then, one day, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana set out to wander in the realm of pretas. Having disappeared from Śrāvastī, he went to the forest of Vindhya Mountain. There, he saw a preta burning, blazing intensely, blazing everywhere, burning like a single flame. If it went to the plain, lions, tigers, leopards, and bears with iron claws born from its karma would appear. They would cut, cut, and devour its flesh. Therefore, it would experience intense, unbearable, burning, and unpleasant feelings, and he saw it running around. Having seen this, he thought in his mind: What deed did this being commit that it experiences such suffering as a result of that deed? He observed that this person had taken ordination in the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kāśyapa and had become a monk in charge of the affairs of the sangha. When he was in charge of the affairs of the sangha, he used the property of the sangha, the property of the stupas, the regular offerings, and the property of the sangha of the four directions as he pleased, and he also gave to others. Then, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana thought: Although I have clearly seen this deed myself, I should report it to the Blessed One in order to arouse aversion in the general populace. Having disappeared from the forest of Vindhya Mountain, he went to Śrāvastī. At that time, the Blessed One was sitting amidst hundreds of thousands of retinues, teaching the Dharma. Then, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana saw the Blessed One teaching the Dharma to hundreds of thousands of retinues. Having seen this, he thought: Now is the time for me to report the account of the preta to the Blessed One. So he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Having sat down to one side, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana said to the Blessed One: Venerable, I often, in my way, see beings wandering in hell at various times, wandering in the realm of pretas.

Now, walking in the path, walking among people, walking among the gods, and coming back, I will tell people about the suffering of beings in hell, such as cutting, severing, beating, and cooking. And coming back, I will tell people about the suffering of the hungry ghosts, such as hunger, thirst, burning, scorching, and cooking, and the suffering of animals caused by eating each other, and the suffering of people's searching and exhaustion, and the suffering of the gods' death, falling, scattering, and destruction, so that they will become weary. And having become weary in this way, they will also gain further distinction. Venerable one, I set out to walk in the realm of hungry ghosts, and disappeared from Shravasti, and arrived in the forest of Mount Vindhya. Venerable one, there I saw a hungry ghost, with a large body, burning and burning everywhere, burning intensely everywhere, with flames blazing, burning and exhausted. Because of the karma born from it, lions, tigers, leopards, bears, and so on with iron claws appear. If they are in the water, crocodiles with iron claws will appear. If it is in the sky, crows and vultures with iron beaks will appear, and they will cut, cut, and devour its flesh. Therefore, it experiences intense, unbearable, hot, and unpleasant feelings, and I saw it running around. Venerable one, what karma did that being commit, that by the ripening of that karma, it suffers such suffering? The Blessed One said: Maudgalyayana's son, that being is an evildoer, he has done many evil deeds. Maudgalyayana's son, in the past, in this very fortunate kalpa, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, there was a perfectly enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Men, Unsurpassed, God of
