How can I be with you without making an offering of this bone? For a while, let me first make an offering to this bone, and then I will do as the master pleases. As soon as he heard this, the one belonging to the nose took the bones of that lay devotee to the cemetery. After burning the bones, he piled them up on one side, and that woman jumped into the burning fire and died there as well. Then the one belonging to the nose felt remorse in his heart because of this matter, thinking, 'What should I do, having done such an inappropriate thing? Meeting with the woman was also not beneficial, and I have done such an inappropriate thing to her, it shouldn't have been done.' Monks, what do you think? At that time, the one who belonged to the nose was that crocodile. He struck that lay devotee with a wet whip and broke his ribs. That was also because of the maturation of the karma of dying from that cause, so the one belonging to the nose was born in the hell realm. There, he suffered the suffering of hell for many years, for many thousands of years. After dying, he transmigrated, passing beyond that time, and was born into the animal realm. Dying and transmigrating from the animal realm, he was born only into the animal realm, and only obtained such suffering. Then, the venerable Maudgalyayana said this to the Blessed One: Venerable One, when will that being be liberated from that suffering? The Blessed One said: Maudgalyayana, in the future, there will be a perfectly enlightened Buddha who has transcended the level of hearers and solitary Buddhas, named Good Intention, who will appear in the world. During that time, the karma of this being will be exhausted, and he will be reborn as a human. He will renounce the world in the teachings of that Buddha, abandon all defilements, and directly realize the state of an Arhat. There, his suffering will come to an end. Then, as soon as they heard this, many people felt great sorrow. The Blessed One, knowing that their minds were saddened, taught the Dharma that was in accordance with them. Therefore, while sitting on that very seat, some generated warmth, and some generated the peak and

They generated forbearance in accordance with their dispositions, the supreme worldly dharma, and the samadhi of seeing reality. Some directly realized the fruit of stream-entry, some directly realized the fruit of once-returner, some directly realized the fruit of non-returner, and some directly realized the state of an Arhat after ordaining. Some planted the seed to become a Chakravartin king, some to become a powerful Chakravartin, some to become Indra, some to become Brahma, some planted the seed of the Bodhi of a Shravaka, some the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha, and some the seed of the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete Bodhi. Most of those assemblies were established in being inclined towards the Buddha, tending towards the Dharma, and turning towards the Sangha. The latter part of the Cutting Practice: The introduction is that while residing in Shravasti, the venerable Maudgalyayana's son, according to the rule, would regularly wander in the hells of sentient beings, wander in the realm of pretas, wander among animals, wander among humans, and wander among the gods. After returning, he would relate to the people the suffering of sentient beings in hells, such as cutting, chopping, beating, and boiling. After returning, he would relate the suffering of pretas, such as hunger, thirst, burning, scorching, and boiling, as well as the suffering of animals caused by devouring one another, the suffering of humans in searching, fighting, and exhaustion, and the suffering of gods in death, falling, scattering, and destruction. Hearing these things, people would become weary, and having become weary, they would also attain higher qualities. Then one day, the venerable great Maudgalyayana's son, preparing to wander in the realm of pretas, disappeared from Shravasti. He stood by the sea, and there he saw a preta with a large body, the lower half of which was ordinary, and the part above the waist was

The body is divided into two parts, burning, extremely burning, everywhere extremely burning, running between each other. There, lions, tigers, leopards, bears, and so on with iron teeth born from his karma came to him, cutting, cutting, and eating his flesh. People born from karma also came there and cut off his upper body with sharp swords. If one upper body is cut off, another will appear, and if another is cut off, yet another will appear. Therefore, he experiences intense, unbearable, burning, and unpleasant feelings, making loud noises, and fleeing from each other, and he also sees people born from karma following behind him. Then, the venerable son of Maudgalyayana thought: What karma did this being commit that the ripening of that karma causes him to experience such suffering? He saw that he had renounced the world in the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light-Protecting, becoming a monk in charge of the affairs of the Sangha. He cut off the robes and possessions of the monks who had entered the summer retreat and offered them to the monks who had entered the winter retreat; he cut off the robes and possessions of the monks who had entered the winter retreat and offered them to the monks who had entered the summer retreat; he cut off from both, some he used himself, and some he offered to others. Then, the venerable son of Maudgalyayana thought: Although I have also directly seen his karma, in order to cause disgust in the majority of people, I will report it to the Bhagavan. So he disappeared from the seashore and went to Shravasti. At that time, the Bhagavan was sitting in the midst of hundreds of thousands of attendants, teaching the Dharma. Then, the venerable son of Maudgalyayana saw the Bhagavan teaching the Dharma to hundreds of thousands of attendants. Having seen this, he thought: Now is the time for me to ask the Bhagavan for a prophecy about the preta. So he went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, he bowed his head to the feet of the Bhagavan, and then sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the venerable son of Maudgalyayana said this to the Bhagavan:
