用油、酥油、炼乳和酥油的精华来滋养，像海中的莲花一样迅速生长。当他长大后，学习文字、算术、说笑、手算、加减、隐藏、分配、辨别衣服、辨别珠宝、辨别珍宝、辨别香、辨别药物、辨别大象、辨别马和辨别武器，成为精通文字、精通阅读、聪明、精通事务、心思正直和精通八种辨别的人。之后有一天，具寿者莫嘎拉那看到那个孩子出家的时机成熟了，早上穿上裙子和法衣，拿着钵去舍卫城乞食。他依次乞食，走到那个居士的家，在铺设好的座位上坐下。坐下后，具寿者莫嘎拉那对那个居士说：居士，这个孩子在出生之前，你就已经把他给了我做仆人。你们这些善良的人是坚守誓言的，难道不是像那样发过誓吗？居士说：圣者，确实是那样发过誓的。说完，他双手抓住那个孩子，献给具寿者莫嘎拉那，说道：孩子，在你出生之前，我就已经把你献给了圣者，去侍奉圣者吧！孩子说：这对我很有帮助。说完，那个孩子就跟在具寿者莫嘎拉那身后。具寿者莫嘎拉那把那个孩子带到寺庙，让他出家，并授了比丘戒，还给他讲了法。之后，他日夜精进修行，但却没有获得任何特殊的成就。有一天，他生病了。他的父母听到儿子生病的消息后，立刻带着医生和所有用具去了寺庙。他们用所有的用具进行治疗，但还是无法让他痊愈。于是他们想：如果我们两个都待在寺庙里，那么家里的很多事情都会耽误。

He was nourished with oil, ghee, clarified butter, and the essence of ghee, and grew rapidly like a lotus in the sea. When he grew up, he learned writing, arithmetic, speaking and laughing, manual calculation, addition and subtraction, hiding, distributing, discerning clothes, discerning jewels, discerning precious stones, discerning incense, discerning medicine, discerning elephants, discerning horses, and discerning weapons, becoming proficient in writing, proficient in reading, intelligent, clear in affairs, upright in mind, and proficient in eight kinds of discernment. Then one day, the Venerable Maudgalyayana saw that the time was ripe for the boy to be ordained, and in the morning he put on his skirt and Dharma robes, took his bowl, and went to Shravasti to beg for alms. He went begging in order, and went to the house of that householder, and sat down on the prepared seat. After sitting down, the Venerable Maudgalyayana said to the householder: Householder, before this child was born, you had already given him to me as a servant. You virtuous people are steadfast in your vows, haven't you vowed like that? The householder said: Holy One, it is indeed vowed like that. After saying that, he grabbed the child with both hands and offered him to the Venerable Maudgalyayana, saying: Child, before you were born, I had already offered you to the Holy One, go and serve the Holy One! The child said: That is very helpful to me. After saying that, the child followed behind the Venerable Maudgalyayana. The Venerable Maudgalyayana took the child to the monastery, had him ordained, and gave him the Bhikkhu vows, and also taught him the Dharma. After that, he practiced diligently day and night, but did not gain any special achievements. One day, he fell ill. When his parents heard that their son was ill, they immediately took a doctor and all the equipment and went to the monastery. They treated him with all the equipment, but were still unable to heal him. So they thought: If we both stay in the monastery, then many things at home will be delayed.

想到“把这个孩子带回家，就在那里照顾他吧”，于是向具寿不退（藏文：ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་མ་འགགས་པ་）的脚下顶礼，说道：“圣者请知悉，我们两个如果在这里，那么家里的很多事情都会耽误，如果我们两个把这个孩子带回家照顾，请您允许。”之后，具寿不退想到：“这个比丘会在那个家里现证阿罗汉果，父母和家人也会安住于真谛。”想到这里，具寿不退说道：“你们两个按照自己喜欢的方式去做吧。”然后，听到这话之后，那个家主就把那个比丘带到自己家里，按照医生的嘱咐，用一切用具照顾他。那个比丘也住在那个家里，因为疾病而感到厌烦，通过精进、修持和努力，断除了所有烦恼，现证了阿罗汉果。他获得阿罗汉果后，了解了父母和家人的想法、习气、根性和自性，宣说了与他们相应的法，听到这些后，那个家主和眷属一起坐在那个座位上，用智慧金刚摧毁了二十座高耸的坏聚见山顶，现证了入流果。他让父母安住在真谛上，回忆起自己的前世，心想：“我从哪里去世，又在哪里出生呢？”他从人去世，又出生为人，看到到处都是疾病和短命，他心想：“我作为异生凡夫，经历了这样的痛苦，现在我已经做完了该做的事情，我为什么还需要这样的痛苦呢？不如让我进入寂灭的境界吧。”于是，他示现了燃烧、光明、下雨和闪电的神变，完全进入了无余涅槃的境界。他完全涅槃后，父母用布

Thinking, "Let's take this child home and take care of him there," they prostrated at the feet of the venerable Aniruddha and said, "Holy one, please be aware that if we two stay here, many of our household affairs will be neglected. If we two take this child home and take care of him, please grant us permission." Then, the venerable Aniruddha thought, "This monk will realize Arhatship in that very house, and the parents and family members will also be established in the truths." Knowing this, the venerable Aniruddha said, "You two do as you please." Then, as soon as he heard those words, the householder took the monk to his house and, according to the doctor's instructions, took care of him with all the necessary implements. The monk also stayed in that house, and becoming weary of his illness, he abandoned all defilements through diligence, practice, and effort, and realized Arhatship. Having attained Arhatship, he understood the thoughts, habits, faculties, and nature of his parents and family members, and taught them the Dharma that was appropriate to them. Hearing this, the householder and his retinue, while sitting on that very seat, shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. He established his parents in the truths and remembered his former lives, thinking, "From where did I die and where was I born?" He died as a human and was born as a human again, and seeing that everywhere there was much sickness and short life, he thought, "As an ordinary being, I have experienced such suffering. Now that I have done what I had to do, why do I need such suffering? Rather, let me enter the realm of peace." Then, he displayed miracles of burning, shining, raining, and lightning, and completely entered the realm of Nirvana without remainder. Then, the venerable Aniruddha recollected and thought, 'It was he himself who made the aspiration to become like this.' Having realized this, he petitioned the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, 'Monks, put on your Dharma robes and go to perform the funerary rites for that monk.' The Blessed One, attended by the assembly of monks, with the monastic community of monks clearing the way, proceeded to the house of that householder. Mahaprajapati Gautami also heard that the son of a certain householder had gone forth and passed away, and that the Blessed One intended to make offerings and show respect to him. Having learned this, she also recollected his previous existence and, with a retinue of five hundred, went to the house of that householder. The householder Anathapindika, and the chief of the queen's retinue, the Rishi Datta and the ancients, also heard. The laywoman Saga and the laywoman Susthitamata also heard that the son of a certain householder had gone forth and passed away, and that the Blessed One intended to make offerings and show respect to him. Having heard this, they also went there with their retinues. They prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and requested, 'We will perform the stupa offering for this monk's relics; Blessed One, do not trouble yourself.' Then, the Blessed One, without saying anything to the householder Anathapindika, granted permission. Then, the householder Anathapindika and other lay devotees carried the bier of that monk and proceeded to the charnel ground. The Blessed One and other monks, as well as the laymen and laywomen who were making offerings and showing respect, also followed behind. Having carried it to the charnel ground, they chopped various fragrant woods, lit a fire, extinguished the fire with milk, and then collected the bones and placed them in a vase, and in that very place, they built a stupa for the relics.
