Knowing without touching the ground, also knowing the time, also knowing the menstruation, also knowing the pregnancy, also knowing from where the pregnancy comes, also knowing the boy, also knowing the girl. If it is a boy, then he relies and stays on the right side of the abdomen. If it is a girl, then she relies and stays on the left side of the abdomen. Then, when she becomes pregnant, she is very happy and tells her husband: 'Lord, I am pregnant, and because it relies and stays on the right side of my abdomen, it must be a boy. Please be happy!' After saying this, the husband is also very happy, straightening his upper body and stretching out his right hand, saying: 'The face of the son I have longed for for a long time will be seen. May my son be capable, not incapable! May he do my work! If I raise him, may he repay the kindness of raising him! May he enjoy my wealth! May my family lineage last long! After we pass away, may he also give alms for us, whether much or little, and do meritorious deeds, and wherever we are born, may these merits reach there!' Saying these joyful words. Knowing that she is pregnant, in order to care for the child, she is placed on top of a fine building, and when it is cold, cold utensils are used, and when it is hot, hot utensils are used, and the foods indicated by the doctor, not too bitter, not too sour, not too salty, not too sweet, not too spicy, not too astringent, but with foods that have no bitterness, sourness, saltiness, sweetness, spiciness, or astringency. Adorning the body with necklaces and pearls, just like a goddess wandering in a joyful garden, wandering on the bed from this bed to that bed, and on the small bed from this small bed to that small bed, without touching the ground below. And she is made not to hear any unpleasant sounds. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, the teacher of the one and only path, possessing the two kinds of knowledge and wisdom, skilled in the three unmixed mindfulness.

Those who are fearless with the four fearlessnesses, completely liberated from the cycle of the five destinies, skilled in the six sense fields, whose field of activity is the seven limbs of enlightenment, who meditate on the eight liberations, who enter into the nine successively abiding samadhis, who possess the power of the ten powers, who roar the great roar of a true lion, by their very nature, in the three periods of the day and the three periods of the night, that is, in the six periods of day and night, they look upon the world with the eye of a Buddha, thinking: Who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is living in poverty? Who is distressed? Who is afflicted? Who is poor, distressed, and afflicted? Who is inclined towards the lower realms? Who is falling into the lower realms? Who has fallen into the lower realms? Whom shall I rescue from the lower realms and place in the heavens, liberation, and fruition? Whom shall I draw out by the hand from sinking in the mire of misdeeds? Whom, lacking the seven noble riches, shall I empower to wield the dominion of the seven noble riches? Whom shall I cause to generate roots of virtue if they have not yet generated them? Whom shall I cause to fully mature if they have already generated roots of virtue? Whom, having fully matured the roots of virtue, shall I pierce with the weapon of wisdom? For whom shall I make the world adorned by the appearance of a Buddha a world with fruit? Thus, the vision of wisdom engages. The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, and the waves of time may recede, but for the sons to be tamed, the Buddhas never miss their opportunity. Just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, look upon the world with the eye of a Buddha in the three periods of the day and the three periods of the night, that is, in the six periods of day and night, so too the great Shravakas look upon the world with the eye of a Shravaka in the three periods of the day and the three periods of the night, that is, in the six periods of day and night. The venerable Mahakashyapa, looking upon the world with the eye of a Shravaka, saw a sentient being taking rebirth in the house of that householder. Having seen this, he thought, "By whom will that sentient being be tamed? Will it be tamed by the Buddha? Or will it be tamed by a Shravaka?" Then he saw that it would be tamed by himself. Having seen this, he went to that house.

Then, he often preached the Dharma to that householder, causing that householder to abide in perfect faith, and also to abide in the roots of refuge and precepts, and he also caused him to believe in giving and the distribution of giving. Before long, that house became like a ditch of water for beggars. Later one day, the Venerable Maudgalyayana, in order to make those parents firm, went to that house alone, without a companion or servant. That householder saw the Venerable Maudgalyayana coming alone without a companion or servant. Having seen him, he asked, "Holy one, why have you come alone without a companion or attendant? Are there no attendants to serve the Holy One?" The Venerable Maudgalyayana said, "Where else would we have a source of servants other than from those who give like you?" The householder said, "Venerable Maudgalyayana, my wife is pregnant, and if she gives birth to a boy, I will offer him to the Holy One as an attendant." The Venerable Maudgalyayana said, "Good people are firm in their vows." Having said this, the Venerable Maudgalyayana left. After nine or ten months of pregnancy, that householder's wife gave birth to a boy who was handsome, lovely, beautiful, of good complexion, golden in color, with a head like an umbrella, long arms, a broad forehead, a high and well-shaped nose, and thick eyebrows. After that, they held a grand birth celebration for him, and began to name the child, saying, "We have been longing for, when will my son be born? This boy has completely fulfilled what I have long desired and longed for, so let this boy's name be called 'Complete Fulfillment'." After that, they entrusted the boy Complete Fulfillment to eight nurses: two to raise him on their laps, two to nurse him, two to wash away dirt, and two to play with him. He held in his hand the peacock feather of Indra's son, a protective thread, milk, and yogurt.
