Having perfected and abided in the sphere of birth, and in all aspects completely transcending the sphere of limitless space, thinking "consciousness is limitless," thereby perfecting and abiding in the sphere of limitless consciousness, and in all aspects completely transcending the sphere of limitless consciousness, thinking "there is nothing at all," thereby perfecting and abiding in the sphere of nothingness, and in all aspects completely transcending the sphere of nothingness, thereby perfecting and abiding in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, such karma will cause rebirth among the gods who dwell in the formless realm. Moreover, there is karma that is done but not accumulated, what is that? After doing karma, feeling ashamed, regretting, scolding, being remorseful, confessing, and abandoning, vowing not to do it again in the future, such karma is done but not accumulated. Moreover, there is karma that is accumulated but not done, what is that? A certain karma, the body has completely accomplished it, the mind has also completely accomplished it, and verbally saying "this karma should be done," but it is not done, such karma is accumulated but not done. Moreover, there is karma that is both done and accumulated, what is that? A certain karma, after doing it, not fearing, not retreating, not regretting, not scolding, not being remorseful, not confessing, not abandoning, not giving up, and vowing not to do it again in the future, such karma is both done and accumulated. Moreover, there is karma that is done but not done, and accumulated but not accumulated, what is that? A certain karma, not intentionally accumulated but done, such as doing it in a dream, or causing others to do it, such karma is done but not done, and accumulated but not accumulated. With what kind of karma will a person be born in hell, and after completely exhausting the lifespan of hell in hell, will they transfer their lifespan? For example, some people create and accumulate the karma of hell, but after creating such karma, they do not feel ashamed, do not regret, do not scold, do not feel remorseful, do not confess, and vow not to do it again in the future, but instead rejoice and feel happy because of it, such as Devadatta and untimely ones, etc., with such karma, that person will completely exhaust the lifespan of hell in hell, and then transfer their lifespan.

It is like this, some people, having done the karma that leads to being born in hell, feel ashamed, regret, condemn, confess, admit, abandon, renounce, and completely restrain themselves. This is what kind of karma, when a being is born in hell, exhausts half of the life in hell and then transfers the life. So, what kind of karma, when a being is born in hell, has the karma of transferring the life immediately after birth? What is that? It is like this, some people, having done and accumulated the karma that leads to being born in hell, after doing that karma, feel ashamed, regret and condemn, confess and admit, and restrain themselves saying that they will not do it again. Even if one in a hundred beings is born in hell, they will transfer the life immediately after birth. For example, like King Ajatasatru, having done the five heinous crimes, killing his father, splitting the Sangha, driving the elephant, throwing the stone wheel. Having heard that that karma would lead to the Avici hell, he was not happy, made his mind believe, and from the Sutra of the Fruits of Recluses, he confessed his sins, accumulated virtuous roots, and prayed that even if his life transferred to only bones, he would take refuge in the Buddha. Just like that it is said: Having done extremely unpleasant deeds, self-condemnation and thorough confession, and restraining oneself, those sins will be lessened, but one cannot say that they are completely eradicated.
