That is the other shore of bliss. Like a merchant with the power of clouds. The Tathagata is unparalleled and unequaled. Blissful conceptualization, thus utterly serene. Buddhas who practice both conceptualizations. Dispelling darkness, they go to the other shore and possess fame. They have attained what is to be attained and have become masters of their minds. All liberated, with exhausted defilements, utterly liberated. Liberated, possessing wisdom, stainless and without outflows. They gaze for the benefit of embodied beings in the world. Some sit on the summit of mountains. Constantly watching over all beings. Likewise, the wise, free from sorrow. Ascending to the palace born from Dharma. Constantly gazing upon those tormented by the sorrow that overwhelms birth and old age. Opening the gate of immortality. Whoever wishes to listen, please dispel doubt. This is the twenty-first chapter, the Collection of the Tathagata. Good hearing and good conduct, and. Well renounced from home, and. Well surrounded by abandonment, and. Following the virtuous is good. Children, the unwise ones. Act as if they were immortal. The wise, regarding the sacred Dharma. Are like patients at night. Just as a house is well covered. Entering a room covered in darkness. Even though forms exist. They are not seen as if by one with eyes. Likewise, here, one born of noble lineage. Even if a person is endowed with intelligence. Until they have heard of sinful and virtuous Dharmas. They will not know. Just as one with eyes sees forms with a lamp. Likewise, the Dharmas of good and evil. Are known through hearing. Through hearing, one knows all Dharmas. Through hearing, one turns away from sin. Through hearing, one abandons the meaningless. Through hearing, one attains Nirvana. Even if one has heard much. If one does not well maintain discipline. Then one is reproached for the sake of discipline. Their hearing is not perfect. Even if one has heard little. If one well maintains discipline. Then one is praised for the sake of discipline. Their hearing becomes perfect. Whoever has heard little. And does not well maintain discipline. Then one is reproached for both reasons. Their conduct is not perfect. Whoever has heard much. And well maintains discipline.

doing. That is a praise for both, That makes asceticism more complete. Having much learning and holding the Dharma, Having wisdom and being in meditative equipoise, Those are not to be disparaged by anyone, Like gold ornaments of Jambudvipa. Whoever infers by form, And measures me by sound, Possessing desire and attachment, That person does not know me. If the inner is discernment, And the outer does not appear, How can the inner fruit be seen? That can be guided by sound. If the outer appears, And the inner does not become discernment, How can the outer fruit be seen? That can be guided by sound. If the inner is also not discerning, And the outer does not appear, Completely obscured by children, That can be guided by sound. If the inner is discernment, And the outer also appears, A teaching that determines the arising of wisdom, That can be guided by sound. The ears hear most, And the eyes also see much, Through those who have seen and heard the teachings, Are the people who should be trusted. Knowing the essence of well-spoken hearing, Also knowing the essence of samadhi and so on, Whoever is careless and arrogant, His hearing and knowing will not become meaningful. Whoever delights in the Dharma taught by the noble ones, Likewise, acts with body and speech, Those are the ones who have patience, are happy to associate, and subdue the senses, Attain the other shore of hearing and wisdom. The chapter on hearing is the twenty-second. For well-spoken words, one should learn, For the Shramana, one should be respectful, Secluded places and solitary places, The mind should be calmed. Solitary dwelling, solitary bedding, Alone, without laziness, one should practice, Alone, dwelling in the forest, Alone, one should tame oneself. Whoever can conquer thousands upon thousands of, The battlefields of humans, Whoever conquers oneself, That is the victor of the human battlefield. Constantly practicing discipline, A person with solitary self-taming, Conquering oneself is the most supreme, Looking at other beings is just ordinary. A Bhikshu abiding in wisdom, Having achieved victory, neither Mara nor, Together with Brahma, can defeat him. Neither gods nor Gandharvas, First abide in the correct reasoning
