All the great assembly heard and ran there, and when they arrived, the ascetic Gautama (Sanskrit, Gautama, Gautama; literal Chinese meaning: best cow) was staying in that very place. Then, that wicked man, holding the lotus root, out of fear, threw the bloody sword in front of the ascetic Gautama (Sanskrit, Gautama, Gautama; literal Chinese meaning: best cow) and ran into the crowd. That great crowd saw the bloody sword and said, "This renunciate has killed the virtuous woman." Then they surrounded the ascetic Gautama (Sanskrit, Gautama, Gautama; literal Chinese meaning: best cow), and, becoming unbearable, said, "Hey, renunciate, bearing the emblem of an ascetic, do you do such a deed?" He asked, "What have I done?" They said, "You and the virtuous woman enjoyed pleasures together, and then you killed her." He said, "Because my sins are pacified, I would not do such a deed." Although he spoke peacefully, the crowd tightly bound his hands backwards and presented him to the king, saying, "O god, this renunciate enjoyed pleasures with the virtuous woman and then killed her." The kings were unthinking, so he said, "If that is so, impale this renunciate on a stake." That renunciate, wearing a garland of karara flowers around his neck, surrounded by men dressed in blue clothes and holding weapons, was proclaimed with drums and gongs on the main road, in the marketplace, at the crossroads, and at the triple junctions, and then taken out of the city's south gate and impaled alive on a stake. His dark-skinned teacher used to go to his dwelling from time to time, but this time he went to another place and did not see him, so he began to search around. When he saw him impaled on the stake, his voice hoarse, his eyes filled with tears, he spoke slowly with compassionate words, "Alas, what has happened to this child?" He also, his voice hoarse, feeling despair, and experiencing profound pain, said sadly, "Teacher, what could be worse than this?" The teacher said, "Child, are you wounded? Or have you not been harmed?" "Teacher, my body is wounded, but my mind is not." "Child, how do you know?" "Teacher, please save me with the truth! With the truth and truthful words, my body is wounded, but my mind is not."
