Bharadvaja was very happy with the kingship. Seeing his father ruling the kingdom with dharma and non-dharma, he thought: After my father dies, I will become the king, and I will also rule the kingdom with dharma and non-dharma, causing sentient beings to fall into hell. So what should I do now? I think I should renounce from home to homelessness. Thinking this, he went to where King Karna was, and upon arriving, he knelt on both knees and prayed: Father, please be aware! I am renouncing out of faith, leaving home. The king said: Son, for what do you perform sacrifices and offerings, accumulate generosity, and practice asceticism? These are all for this purpose: After I die, the kingdom will fall into your hands, and you will become the king. Why do you want to renounce? He said: Father, I cannot rule the kingdom with dharma and non-dharma. Therefore, please be aware! I will renounce. Then, the king, knowing that he was determined, agreed to it. At that time, in a certain dwelling, there lived a sage named Black Ascetic. Then, young Gautama, with the king's permission, felt great joy and satisfaction, and inner peace arose. He went to where the Black Ascetic sage was, and upon arriving, he prostrated at his feet with humble conduct and said: Great sage, I desire to renounce, please ordain me. The sage ordained him. The Black Ascetic sage lived on fruits, roots, and water, so he also became the Gautama sage, and was called the Gautama sage. After some time, King Karna died, and young Bharadvaja was allowed to take control of his father's kingdom. After some time, the Gautama sage said to his Khenpo (preceptor): Khenpo, I cannot live on food in a secluded place, I would like to live near a village. The Khenpo said: Son, it is fine. A sage who lives in a village or a secluded place, in short, is to guard the senses. Go and make a hut of leaves near the ferry crossing and live there. The Gautama sage said: Khenpo, I will follow your instructions. After that, the Gautama sage made a hut of leaves near the ferry crossing.

便做了儿子住下了。当时在城市གྲུ་འཛིན་（意为船持）中，有一个名叫བཟང་མོ་（贤女）的妓女，和一个名叫པད་མའི་རྩ་ལག་（莲藕）的邪淫之人住在一起。他为了和她寻欢作乐，便送给她衣服和饰品。她穿戴好衣服和饰品正要出门时，又来了一个拿着五百金币的人，说：“贤女，来和我寻欢作乐吧。”她心想：“如果我去了，五百金币也得不到，而且抛弃了已经来到家里的，再去别处，这可不好。”于是她对使女说：“你去对莲藕说，女主人我说暂时没空，以后再去。”使女便到他那里说了。那人也有很多事情，便和她寻欢作乐，第一段时间就走了。她心想：“时间还长，还能守住他的心。”于是她又吩咐那个使女：“你去莲藕那里，对他说女主人我说已经准备好了，要去哪个花园？”使女到他那里说了，他说：“你一会儿说没空，一会儿说有空吗？”那个使女和他说话不投机，便说：“王子的确不是没空，而是她穿着你的衣服和饰品，正和别的男人寻欢作乐。”他原本被贪欲所染，现在便与贪欲分离，生起了被嗔恨所染的心。他生起无法忍受的心，便说：“使女，你去对贤女说，莲藕我在某个花园等你。”使女去了，对贤女说了。之后她去了花园，邪淫之人莲藕便说：“你穿着我的衣服和饰品，和别的男人寻欢作乐，合适吗？”她说：“王子，这是我的过错，但是女人总是容易犯错，请您原谅。”之后他生起无法忍受的心，便从剑鞘中拔出剑杀了她。之后使女大声喊叫：“女主人被杀了！女主人被杀了！”

He stayed as a son. At that time, in the city of གྲུ་འཛིན་ (meaning 'boat holder'), there lived a prostitute named བཟང་མོ་ (Virtuous Woman) and a lecherous man named པད་མའི་རྩ་ལག་ (Lotus Root). He sent her clothes and ornaments so that she would indulge in pleasure with him. As she was putting on the clothes and ornaments to go out, another man came with five hundred gold coins and said, 'Virtuous Woman, come and indulge in pleasure with me.' She thought, 'If I go, I won't get the five hundred gold coins, and abandoning the one who has already come to my house and going elsewhere is not good.' So she said to her maidservant, 'Go and tell Lotus Root that I, the mistress, am temporarily unavailable and will go later.' The maidservant went to him and said so. That man also had many things to do, so he indulged in pleasure with her and left after the first session. She thought, 'There is still plenty of time, so I can still protect his heart.' So she again instructed the maidservant, 'Go to Lotus Root and tell him that I, the mistress, said that I am ready, which garden shall I go to?' The maidservant went to him and said so, and he said, 'Do you say you are not available one moment and available the next?' The maidservant did not get along with him, so she said, 'Prince, it is not that she is not available, but she is wearing your clothes and ornaments and indulging in pleasure with another man.' He, who was previously stained by desire, was now separated from desire, and a mind stained by hatred arose. He became unbearable and said, 'Maidservant, go and tell Virtuous Woman that I, Lotus Root, am waiting for you in such-and-such garden.' The maidservant went and told Virtuous Woman. Then she went to the garden, and the lecherous man Lotus Root said, 'Is it appropriate for you to indulge in pleasure with another man while wearing my clothes and ornaments?' She said, 'Prince, it is my fault, but women are always prone to mistakes, please forgive me.' Then he became unbearable, drew his sword from its sheath, and killed her. Then the maidservant shouted loudly, 'The mistress has been killed! The mistress has been killed!'
