Charka, this is your duty, from now on do not sleep in the same room with a woman. Charka, having heard the Venerable One's instruction, bowed to the Venerable Shariputra's feet with his head and left, and went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving, bowed to the Blessed One's feet with his head, and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I am going to Kapilavastu. The Blessed One instructed: Charka, go, but do not immediately enter the palace, wait at the gate and say: A Shākya monk has come. If they say: Please come in, then enter. How did the venerable Udayin, blessed in this way, go to Kapilavastu in an instant? The venerable Udayin, having developed strong faith in the Blessed One, stayed at the gate of Rajagriha and said: "O wise ones, please inform the king that a Shakya monk has arrived." They said: "Are there other Shakya monks?" The wise ones said: "Yes." They said to the king: "A Shakya monk has arrived." The king said: "Let him enter." When he entered, King Suddhodana saw Udayin and said: "Udayin, have you gone forth?" "O god, I have gone forth." "Didn't you say you would return? What is this?" Udayin said: "O god, the Blessed One said that the messenger of the Buddha is not like this. Because he has well spoken the Dharma and Vinaya, I have gone forth, and I have also gone forth by my own faith." The king embraced him with all his limbs and had him sit on the prepared seat. For his sake, he prepared filtered water and strung fruits, cleaned them, and had him eat. The venerable Udayin was exceedingly peaceful, abiding in tamed conduct, and enjoying himself with the prescribed rituals. The king, having observed him, was amazed and said: "Udayin, is the youth Sarvarthasiddha also so peaceful?" Udayin said: "O god, my tamed conduct and peacefulness are just a little. For example, like Mount Meru and a mustard seed. Like the ocean and a hoofprint. Like the sun and a firefly. Like the sky and the hole of a lotus root." King Suddhodana said: "Udayin, is the youth Sarvarthasiddha also like this, and is his appearance like this?" "O god, he is like this, and his appearance is also like this." King Suddhodana fainted and fell to the ground. After pouring much water, he regained his breath and said: "Udayin, has the youth Sarvarthasiddha come?" Udayin said: "O god, he has come." "How long has it been, seven days?" King Suddhodana instructed the ministers: "O wise ones, the youth Sarvarthasiddha will come, clean the royal palace and the palace." Udayin said.

Reported: The Blessed One does not reside in the palace. The king asked: Where does he reside? The astrologer said: In a monastery or a vihara. King Suddhodana said: Astrologer, what is a vihara like? The venerable astrologer drew a picture showing the appearance of Prince Jeta's Grove. Then the king said to the ministers: Wise men, in the Nyagrodha Grove, build sixteen large viharas and sixty small houses according to the appearance of Prince Jeta's Grove. The ministers, having heard from King Suddhodana, "As you wish," built sixteen large viharas and sixty small houses in the Nyagrodha Grove according to the appearance of Prince Jeta's Grove. Then the Blessed One said to the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: Maudgalyāyana, go and tell the monks, 'The Blessed One will go to Kapilavastu, and father and son will meet. Whoever among you wishes to see this, prepare your robes.' The venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana, having heard "As you wish" from the Blessed One, said to the monks: Venerable ones, the Blessed One will go to Kapilavastu, and father and son will meet.
