Those beings called "sentient beings" possess misconduct of body, misconduct of speech, and misconduct of mind. They slander the noble ones and hold wrong views. Because of the causes of having properly adopted the Dharma and actions of wrong views, with those causes and conditions, after the destruction of the body and death, they will be born in the evil realms, evil destinies, and fallen states, in the hells of sentient beings. O wise ones, those beings called "sentient beings" possess good conduct of body, good conduct of speech, and good conduct of mind. They do not slander the noble ones and hold right views. Because of the causes of having properly adopted the Dharma and actions of right views, with those causes and conditions, after the destruction of the body and death, they will be born in the happy realms, the worlds of the heavens, as gods and humans. Thus, they fully know. Then, the Bodhisattva, sitting under the Bodhi tree, constantly engaged in activity and diligence, abiding in accordance with the yoga of meditation on the Dharmas that are in harmony with the aspects of enlightenment. In the last watch of the night, when he set his mind on the knowledge of actualizing the wisdom of the exhaustion of defilements, he fully knew as it is: "This is suffering, the noble truth." "This is the origin of suffering." "This is the cessation of suffering." "This is the path leading to the cessation of suffering, the noble truth." He fully knew as it is. When he knows and sees in this way, the mind will be completely liberated from the defilement of desire, and the mind will be completely liberated from the defilement of existence and the defilement of ignorance. When liberated, he knows, "My birth is exhausted, the pure conduct has been established, what needed to be done has been done, there is no more future existence." At that very moment, he realized the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and became perfectly enlightened as a Buddha. He understood it in his heart. Thus, the Bhagavan, in the last watch of the night, having overcome the thirty-six hundred million maras and demons with the weapon of loving-kindness, attained the unsurpassed wisdom. Then, the bow slipped from the hand of the evil Mara, the top of the victory banner fell downwards, and the place trembled.

Then, the evil Mara, along with his thirty-six million retinues of beings, felt pain, displeasure, and dejection, and immediately disappeared and went to his own abode. Suffering, displeased, and defeated, he was troubled in his mind, scratching the ground with arrows and remaining there. Then, the daughters of Mara, named Desire, Delight-Maker, and Delight-User, went to where Mara was, and having gone, spoke these words to the evil Mara: Father, why are you displeased? Why do you sit like this? Which man has harmed you? Which man are you thinking of? Tell us, and we will bind him like an elephant from the forest with the noose of desire, and bring him to you, so that he will be under your power. Mara said: This man is completely free from desire, and cannot be seduced by desire. Because he has transcended the realm of Mara, I am very sad. Then, Desire, Delight-Maker, and Delight-User, the three daughters of Mara, blazing with glory like lightning from the clouds, went from their own abode to where the Blessed One was, and having gone, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the three daughters of the evil Mara spoke these words to the Blessed One: O ascetic, we pay homage to your feet, O Sugata, we serve you. The Blessed One, having completely exhausted desire and attained complete liberation, his mind being supremely liberated, did not pay attention to them. Two or three times, the three daughters of Mara spoke these words to the Blessed One: O ascetic, we pay homage to your feet, O Sugata, we serve you. The Blessed One, two or three times, did not pay attention to them, because he had completely exhausted desire and attained complete liberation, his mind being supremely liberated. Then, the three daughters of Mara went to one side and spoke to each other and deliberated: Wise sisters, men
