Now, do not trust objects. Because they are like enemies, objects should be kept neutral. They will subdue all beings. Therefore, as long as uncontaminated wisdom has not arisen, never trust any object. Those cunning ones are enemies disguised as friends, and they are all the bonds of samsara. Then, at that time, the peacock king spoke verses, as follows: By seeing the truth of objects, grasp it with the iron hook of wisdom. If you cannot grasp it, you will do disgusting deception, wanting to do all meaningless things. Foolish thoughts of objects, thinking various discriminations in the heart. The rope of the Lord of Death, which summarizes the thoughts of life, will come here. Also, beings with gentle minds are completely guided by objects. Completely deceived by ignorance, even if completely bewildered, they do not know. Through deception, all objects are like Gandharva cities. They are the universal spreaders of suffering, and also the causes of hell. Children completely deluded by desire, burn objects with fire. Even while burning, they do not understand, completely indulging in it. From discrimination arises desire, from desire arises intense anger. A person tormented by anger will follow hell. Therefore, completely abandon desire. The wise should pacify anger. After quickly and completely abandoning ignorance, nirvana will manifest. One should understand objects like enemies. Nirvana is like a friend. The steadfast one who has nirvana as an object will realize nirvana. Thus, the king of peacocks taught those scriptures to those gods. There are other precious dharmas that should be well guarded. What is this? It is like this: do not trust the mind. Here, whether it is a shramana or a brahmin, or others of the same kind, one should not act by trusting the mind for as long as one lives. Because those are constantly wavering

The nature without end, existing in a wavering and unstable manner, craving for all realms, causing them to be completely born, this also causes all individual ordinary beings to wander completely in various ways in the paths of hells, hungry ghosts, and animals. Never will they become completely familiar with these, because they are deluded by these changeable realms. All individual ordinary beings also revolve completely in the hells, hungry ghosts, and animals, not just once or in one direction. Even so, they will not generate a sense of weariness. Therefore, these are all the fierce and harsh sufferings of samsara that destroy everything. Therefore, one should not trust this extremely unbearable and extremely fierce mind until the seeds of the noble ones have been planted. Until the fruit of entering the stream is attained, after which the door to the lower realms will be closed. Otherwise, all beings will wander and be accompanied by all sufferings. Bound by all bonds, fully endowed with all that is connected, extremely difficult to accomplish, and extremely difficult to tame. Therefore, whether it is a renunciate or a Brahmin who dwells in the Great Vehicle, or others of that kind, one should not easily trust them. Then, at that time, the king of peacocks spoke in the melody of verses: Just as, difficult to cross, quickly free from defilement, having a great influence on all sentient beings. The mind, for all beings, enters completely like a king. This which stirs the hells with unseen and fearful actions, whoever grasps the mind, he is the wise one. He will go to the peak of beings. Likewise, he will incline towards the place of bliss. He will fall into the lower realms. By taming it, one will realize the stainless Nirvana. The mind is the cause of happiness and suffering. By taming it, happiness will descend. All kinds of actions follow the pull of the mind. Therefore, O mind.

One should always guard (this mind). By taming it, happiness also arises. Whose mind is extremely peaceful, whose senses are extremely peaceful from their objects. He who is free from birth and sorrow, has gone to the state of being without disease. Thus, the king of peacocks explained to those gods free from strife and to the Tushita gods the Vinaya Sutra spoken by the Blessed One Krakucchanda Buddha. Then, all those gods, having completely surrounded him and abiding everywhere, with minds that had become exceedingly pleased, said this to him: Well done! Well done! Greatly fortunate one, this Dharma is beautiful! Beautiful in the beginning, middle, and end, having reached the ultimate end of Nirvana, you have explained it to us. Thereafter, the king of peacocks again said to those gods: As I have heard from the Blessed One, the twenty kinds of superior Dharma categories, I have shown them to you. I have shown you this Vinaya, which is meaningful, beneficial, for the sake of happiness, and for the ultimate end of Nirvana, and which will be of supreme benefit to you all. Then, all those gods, having praised what was said, worshiped and prostrated to the king of peacocks, and again, those who were free from strife entered the forests and nearby forests, ponds and lotus ponds for the sake of play. Those gods of Tushita also went back from the expanse of the sky to where the gods of Tushita were. The twenty-two Dharma categories are complete. Thereafter, those gods free from strife rejoice and play in those forests and nearby forests until their deeds of desiring, loving, and pleasing are not exhausted. Then, by enjoying their own deeds, they will be born in hells, among pretas, and among animals. Again, if they are born among humans due to deeds to be experienced elsewhere, then they will always abide in the Dharma and have great lineage, splendor, and power.
