Not being intermediate, not being dull, not being upright, not being crooked, not being long, and observing the place and time, one should protect the mind of the benefactor. How should these negligent ones not be afraid? This is the third of the excellent reliances. If one obtains food and sees a village, city, or market, one should not think of it. One should not desire it. One should not generate joy in it. One should not examine and dwell in places that are unreasonable and universally proclaimed; this is the fourth of the excellent reliances. Furthermore, there is certainly an excellent reliance without attachment, which is to have no regard for anything, even for the body and life. Carrying and holding many utensils and vessels is not a monk, becoming a monk who does not delight in diligently traveling the country, not holding the marks and attire of others, not particularly valuing sewing, not delighting in entering a single house; this is the fifth of the excellent reliances. Furthermore, there is certainly an excellent reliance without attachment, which is not cutting trees, grass, and earth. One will not wear flashy shoes and flashy clothes. One will not scold those who are very immoral. One will not particularly value relying on the king's alms. Not relying on a monk who is afflicted with universal disputes; this is the sixth of the excellent reliances. Furthermore, there are excellent reliances, such as how a monk relies on equanimity. Then, by relying on that excellent reliance, it is as if there is benefit, especially striving to escape from the realm of Mara, and relying on those who are peaceful and have subdued faculties, wandering in solitary places, mountain caves, and uncovered places, and constantly abiding in emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness; this is the seventh of the excellent reliances. Thus, a monk with various

It can also destroy and be completely liberated from all bonds. Then, at this time, the Peacock King spoke other verses, how: Truly possessing the practice of relying on it, it is the basis of the realm of wisdom practice. Fearing the faults of samsara, wanting to renounce is fruitful. The basis of learning is without loss, and there is no interest in previous happiness. Fearing the stream of aggregates, relying on the forest is fruitful. Speech is gentle and peaceful, and also faces nirvana. The body is adorned with morality, wanting to renounce is fruitful. Regarding one's own things and the things of others, whose mind is without delusion, not the ripening of karma, the path and non-path are also the same. Happiness and suffering, fear and, also not possessing obscurations, liberated from the bonds of home, not dwelling in suffering itself. Thus, the various qualities of relying on it, the Peacock King spoke to those gods, in order to make those gods generate faith again. At that time, all those gods, while speaking of various Dharma and Vinaya, listened with attentive ears. Then, the Peacock King, without being tired, again proclaimed that Dharma, to those gods free from strife and the gods of Tushita who were universally gathered, respectfully proclaiming the Dharma, the Peacock King again proclaimed the Dharma. For a renunciate or Brahmin who abides in the Great Vehicle, what other Dharma is cherished? It is: possessing faith in karma. The Dharma called possessing faith in karma and its fruit is great. Whether it is a renunciate or a Brahmin, or those who are similar to them, if a sentient being possesses faith in karma and its fruit, then when he commits the misdeeds of the body, he knows, how: If one relies on, cultivates, and repeatedly practices these misdeeds of the body, then unpleasant, unlovely, and disagreeable ripenings will befall me,

In the realms of pretas, animals, and other beings, they will individually experience the suffering of the undesirable, the ugly, and the unpleasant. Similarly, when engaging in verbal misconduct, one should also keep in mind: If I cultivate, habituate, and repeatedly engage in this verbal misconduct, it will ripen into undesirable, ugly, and unpleasant consequences. In the realms of hell, pretas, and animals, I will repeatedly experience birth due to unwholesome actions. Similarly, engaging in mental misconduct, through practice, cultivation, and repeated habituation, will lead to the maturation of undesirable, ugly, and unpleasant consequences in the realms of hell, pretas, and animals. Ascetics or Brahmins, or others similar to them, or anyone like them, remembering the sinful deeds they committed in the past, will confess, regret, and take refuge in the Buddha, praying that we may be liberated from the consequences of evil deeds. They will become thorough inquirers. Then, that elder, wise, and fond of taming person will confess these transgressions. By rising from these transgressions, one can eliminate previous sinful deeds. Therefore, for a while, regarding the deeds done in the past, the non-virtuous deeds that have been committed, one will not commit them again in the future, and will strive to abandon them. In this way, one can completely separate from all unwholesome actions, or cause them to decline. Similarly, in the present, if one has committed evil deeds of body, speech, and mind, in three ways, with a light heart fully engaged, even if one has already committed them, one will immediately let go of them completely from the heart within a short time, and confess, generate regret, and not commit them again in the future. In this way, he will be very remorseful.
