Those who utterly subdue fear with fear, having abandoned such household abodes, and having dyed their garments reddish-brown, whoever possesses diligence, surely emerges from the household abode. Having been liberated from the bonds of the household abode, having obtained the path of ultimate liberation, diligent in meditation and recitation, those who surpass others in diligence enter liberation as they desire. Therefore, the one who teaches well, possesses diligence, knows the times well, knows the characteristics of the suchness of body and speech, and knows the suchness of arising and ceasing, knows the suchness of one's own nature, knows the suchness of the arising and ceasing of the aggregates, does not abandon diligence day and night, and through great diligence, relies well on the teacher, and also through increasing wisdom, strives in every way. He perseveres, strives greatly, becomes familiar with the path, abandons faults, and from beginningless time, having entered into the bonds of cyclic existence, doing all meaningless things, becoming the cause of darkness, becoming the cause of all that is non-virtuous, being extremely attached to sentient beings, he abandons these through diligently applied effort. As he obtains the paths, so he also generates joy in turning outwards. By diligently applying effort, he will surely bring about the fruits of detachment. He does not cling to objects that are bound by all afflictive dharmas, which completely steal the minds of all childish beings. For example, sounds, tactile sensations, tastes, forms, and odors that accord with desire, steal all virtuous things, possess the nature of enticement, possess the nature of deception, do all meaningless things, become unpleasant ripening, become unpleasant binding dharmas, and are the enemies of objects that distract and confuse the minds of all unhidden childish individuals.

Everything must be abandoned. Do not enjoy the taste, practice the path of liberation. Make the mind free from defilements. As defilements are eliminated, so too, endowed with diligence and mindfulness, one becomes a wonderful knower, a complete conqueror of enemies. Furthermore, with the joy inherent in diligence itself, thoroughly destroy desire, hatred, and ignorance. Separate them. Conquer them. Rebirth will not occur again. Victory over enemies, victory over discord, like the stainless sky, like extremely clear water, like being free from clouds, like the stainless moon, like the sun of Jambudvipa free from fog, thus it appears. Just as a sick person is freed from illness, just as the poor find wealth, just as the blind who lose their way and enter the forest find their way, so too, this person, having obtained the ultimate auspicious discipline, abides by upholding the complete precepts. Just as my births are exhausted, the pure conduct is practiced, I know no other rebirth beyond this. Thus, this person's sins are separated, freed from all bonds of fetters, having crossed to the other shore of the river, attains victory and beauty. Possessing diligence, all of these are the possessions of the steadfast. Therefore, everyone should strive with diligence. Also, abandon laziness and carelessness, which are the bonds of samsara. Then, at that time, the verses spoken by the Blessed One Musulinda Light Protector are as follows: Diligent and mindful, at that time, one is exceedingly joyful, freed from sinful dharmas, the wise will attain liberation. Possessing diligence, abandoning the defilement of laziness, freed from the fear of evil destinies, this person will go to a good rebirth. Lazy dharmas...

Of all. It is considered to be an obstacle maker. The person who is defeated by that fault. A person is fortunate to suffer. Seeking happiness in this life and the next. Therefore, one should abandon it. Therefore, that person who is seized by it. It is also considered auspicious. Thus, the ruler of the non-contenders, to those speaking geese, and the goose king Dusang, and the reckless ones of the demon race, the sutra spoken by the Blessed One Light Protector, those heard by the previous gods, are what is being declared. Furthermore, the defiled dharmas of affliction should be thoroughly destroyed by white dharmas. What is this? For example, abandoning the practice of enjoying entering villages and cities is entirely due to dwelling in solitude. If one becomes accustomed to enjoying activities in villages and cities, it will become an obstacle for monks. How does it become an obstacle? Because the actions of a monk become completely abandoning meditation and recitation, entering villages or cities, and also dwelling there. Having an extremely strong attachment to those households, whether with women or with men, they will constantly gather. If he is bound together with women, then he will do all things. He will completely degenerate from all things, and will completely generate a state of being controlled by desire. For what reason are women like fire? Just as anyone who stays close to fire will be burned. Similarly, anyone who stays close to women, his mind will become confused. For that reason, monks should not enter villages and cities. If he gathers together with men, or speaks with others, then he will completely degenerate from all things. His mind will also not truly rejoice in the undefiled dharmas. A monk, due to the practice of enjoying entering villages and cities, creates a great obstacle.
