All these islands are of the nature of jewels. Again, having crossed that mountain and that sea, the yoga practitioner will observe whether there are other things that belong to the category of sea, mountain, or river. He sees with the wisdom that comes from hearing or with the divine eye, covered with gray rocks and gray trees, completely filled with mist, completely surrounded by the sea. The width of that mountain is five hundred yojanas, and its height is one thousand yojanas. Having crossed that mountain, the yoga practitioner observes the places. The mountain called Sumé is sixty-four yojanas wide and one hundred yojanas high. It is empty of the fear of asuras, and the secret gods dwell there, without either humans or yakshas. Having crossed that mountain, there is a great mountain called Suma, which is one thousand yojanas wide and three thousand yojanas long. It is a beautiful celestial object with the nature of crystal, and it is also pleasing with rivers, trees, and fruits. Having crossed that, there is a blue ocean of one hundred yojanas, where many conches dwell, and it is difficult to traverse by conches. Because it illuminates everywhere, the sky of the people of Uttarakuru appears gray and clear. In terms of human years, fifty years are counted as one day and night for the Four Great Kings. The Four Great Kings live for five hundred years, but some also die prematurely. Furthermore, the yogin observes the body with the external body and abides in it. Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, exists together with the realm of the gods, or are there other places that exist together with divine substances? Through the wisdom arising from hearing, or through what is seen by the divine eye, the Thirty-Three Gods dwell well on the summit of Mount Sumeru. They possess incomparable divine substances and abide in the bliss of divine substances. There is a city there called Beautiful to Behold.
