What are those undisciplined practices that are unpleasant, unsuitable, and disagreeable, causing aversion? Those who delight in discipline should thoroughly abandon these sinful practices. Furthermore, there are five types of undisciplined behavior. For example, walking quickly on the road when entering towns and cities; not being restrained in one's movements while walking; some walk with their clothes loose; some walk with their clothes fluttering; frequently making mistakes or not keeping the mind focused. If others see such behavior, they will immediately become disgusted. Where does this unrestrained manner of walking come from? In youth, it is due to arrogance or lack of mindfulness. Similarly, undisciplined behavior manifests in various ways. Therefore, one should walk with fully restrained conduct, observing the measure of a yoke, keeping one's clothes tidy, not letting them flutter, and ensuring that the upper garment is no more than four fingers' breadth longer than the knees. By not moving the arms, the undisciplined of the heavenly realms are defeated by the disciplined. What other excessive behaviors should a monk or one of similar lineage thoroughly subdue, besides the four types of undisciplined behavior that must be completely destroyed? Even when saying a little, one does not think carefully. One does not fully understand the limits of what has been determined. Those who enter the homes of donors and patrons making pleasant sounds should be restrained, entering without making a rattling noise. One should also take a poor seat. One speaks many unrestrained words, but one does not understand the limits of speaking and not speaking. Even while sitting, one speaks in a loud voice. One engages in speculation and judgment about women. One behaves recklessly and undisciplined. One becomes angry recklessly. One does not look after one's attendants, either before or after. Thus, one behaves in an undisciplined manner.

Those monks who enter (another's house) without completely restraining their behavior are unpleasant and repulsive, and they will also say, "Are there others besides these who have extremely peaceful demeanor and behavior?" Whether those who have already been born, or others of their kind, will say: "Alas, these monks are truly unrestrained!" Also, when speech is completely restrained, one can express words coherently from beginning to end. Whether seeing other people, or seeing themselves, whether donors and patrons, or others of their kind, they can speak slowly at the appropriate time and place, without contradicting reason. They not only express peaceful, understandable, and Dharma-conforming words, but also practice them accordingly. They do not speculate or comment on women. They shake the sounding board to better enter (another's house). They can also understand the time. They can also know the nature of what is about to happen, and can also indirectly understand. They also do not wave their robes around. They also do not move their arms. They also do not cough violently. They also do not ridicule others with words. When someone asks a question or others respectfully speak from outside, they answer slowly, pleasantly, and in accordance with the Dharma. Thus, unrestrained behavior is subdued by discipline. Even measuring, unrestrained behavior can be completely subdued by discipline. What are these again? For example, when they enter (another's) house, they do not listen to the sounds of singing, dancing, music, laughter, arrogant gestures, various enjoyments, other people's speech, and each other's laughter. They also do not taste flavors. They also do not have strong desires for those things. They do not become particularly happy about gatherings. They also do not talk about the other behaviors of other families. They do not go back and forth very quickly, nor do they frequently enter (another's house). They are not the kind of people who are very fond of begging. Even so, that monk enters other people's houses.

Entering the homes of donors, patrons, and others of similar lineage, the minds of wildness are completely subdued by discipline. It destroys, it differentiates. Furthermore, if having entered those homes, a monk engages in conversation with donors and patrons, he abandons talks that are in accordance with the Dharma and speaks of desires, speaks of countries and regions, speaks of heavens, speaks of songs that display dancers, dances, and music, speaks of cities or other things that are completely afflictive, dwells in close association with women, and wanders through homes with adorned appearances. Such minds of wildness also arise for monks or others of similar kind. How should those who are thoroughly entered by such minds of wildness be abandoned by the means of discipline? For example, a monk or others of similar kind, if having skillfully entered a home, will speak words that rely on goodness. For example, speaking of generosity, speaking of ethics, speaking of the praise of wisdom, speaking of falling into error, speaking of aging, speaking of sickness, speaking of separation, speaking of karma, speaking of decline, speaking of death, speaking of true contentment, speaking of relying on goodness, speaking of suffering, speaking of origin, speaking of cessation, speaking of the path, speaking of traversing all the realms, speaking of the praise of ethics and its first appearance, speaking of detachment from desire, speaking of completely destroying miserliness, and speaking of the impermanence of form to those who are intoxicated by the pride of form, speaking of deception, and speaking of how youth and so forth are certainly deceived by aging. Having fully understood the minds of donors and patrons, then
