The aggregates that obtain places arise without delay in an instant. All these conditioned dharmas are necessarily included by the realms, aggregates, and places. Like blinking, breathing, etc., all that are called "wind" are conditioned phenomena, and they are all decaying, destructive, and decaying dharmas. Furthermore, following closely behind, arising from other causes, without delay even for an instant, inhaling simultaneously. Thus, this monk, endowed with mindfulness that follows time, endowed with the activity of reflection that has been liberated, knows individually by himself. This body, formed as a collection of realms and places, is more swiftly assailed than a flash of lightning, and is accompanied by harm. This body, like emptiness, is devoid of actors and experiencers. Through the mutual influence of causes and conditions, this body of name comes into being and exists. It arises and dies in an instant, ages, and only the aggregates of death and rebirth are all the aggregates of samsara. Thus, the monk who meditates in this way, not letting time pass in vain, endowed with four kinds of joy, with a mind of joy, his face will also become pleasing. His virtuous and non-virtuous actions will also become pleasing. This monk, who benefits the next world and is the ultimate of nirvana, after examining his discipline, whether donor or patron, will also become delighted in mind with supreme joy. Monks who possess discipline and practice the meaning of supreme virtue, these four will all become pleasing. At all times and places, with extreme joy, he sleeps in comfort. When he falls asleep, he will see good dreams that are in accordance with the Dharma and closely related to the Dharma. Thus, he is not greedy, walks with mindfulness, and the seven dharmas will increase.

What are the seven? Namely, the confidence in the Dharma that arises from contemplating virtuous qualities, and the joy of engaging in the ultimate aspects of virtuous actions. This joy will also manifestly increase. Because joy becomes vast, name and form will also mutually enhance each other. Through this cause of growth and expansion, the body's health and the mind will also mutually enhance each other and become peaceful, thereby calming the mind. The name of calming the mind is remembering the virtuous deeds previously done, and this calmness will also increase. For virtuous qualities, remembrance also constantly increases. Thinking about the increase of remembrance of virtuous qualities, this happiness will also increase. Those who have become happy, their strength will also increase. The increase of these seven qualities allows one to spend the night in happiness, and even when sleeping, one can cultivate the body and mind at night. Thus, it is the remembrance of time. How does a monk fully accord with the remembrance of time, day and night? Monks, here, a monk knows the closing and opening of the eyes, and at the moment of closing the eyes, together with me, whatever excellence is well obtained in time, and the nature of the mind and mental factors that accompany it, these will soon decay and rot. Here, what are the times of gradual arising and ceasing? For those who arise extremely, it is also establishing the exhaustion of life, therefore, my youth will also be exhausted by old age. The Lord of Death, whom all beings cannot prevent, destroys all sentient beings, descends extremely swiftly and rapidly, and I will pass away elsewhere. I, the life of all beings formed by habits, because it vanishes extremely quickly, tears flow for no reason. For example, a lamp that remains in place consumes the oil. Likewise, we, who have the nature of attachment, also consume life like consuming oil, this should be contemplated by the monks.

Should be done. One must strive diligently for good. Just as these inner entities of self-nature are exhausted by the four dharmas that cause extreme decay, so too are all external conditioned entities destroyed by four means. Mountains, forests, rivers, cities, villages, towns, medicinal lands, and gardens, all places gathered by human beings, and even the worlds of the gods, will be destroyed and exhausted. Forests, nearby forests, ponds, and groves of trees are also decayed and damaged by all the gods indulging in carelessness. All of these disappear, and again and again are born into hells, hungry ghosts, and animal realms. All these worlds enjoy their own karma in various ways, and one should look upon these impermanent things with a mind free from distraction. With a steadfast mind, possessing firm mindfulness, undistracted mindfulness, focusing solely on the true nature, thereby realizing it, and at that very moment, separately possessing mindfulness and awareness. The time for a monk to abide in what kind of conduct, having made effort, abiding in discipline, and truly arising from defilements, is now. The time to increase practice by abiding in meditation is now. The time to break attachments is now. The time for the teacher is now. The time for my food is now. The time for me to gather and clean my Dharma garments is now. The time for me to go to the presence of donors and benefactors and to act for the sake of teaching the Dharma is now. The time for me to depart from there is now. That monk is mindful of the passage of time at all times. Thus, the monk is one who possesses mindfulness that follows the times. Furthermore, how is it mindfulness of age? Here, monks, the monk remembers the various stages related to age, from the time of conception in the womb. The ages of the body are also momentary, gradually aging.
