Those gods said to Musalinda, "O Lord of Non-Contention, do you understand? All those things you have said are true, and we have witnessed them here. In our presence, all the gods in all the orders are suffering unbearable and extreme pain. The measure, color, shape, and vast differences in the orders of those gods, we cannot bear even a tenth, not even a little bit. If all these things become obstacles, why will they not happen to us?" In their presence, the Lord of Non-Contention speaks these words, "The suffering of those gods that you have seen is only a little bit, you will suffer a hundred times more than that, because you are driven by carelessness. If you follow what is not Dharma, you will be born in hell, as a hungry ghost, and as an animal. If you follow the Dharma, then the gates of the lower realms will be closed, and you will draw near to and enjoy the various pleasures of gods and humans, and in the end, you will attain the eternal state of being without old age and without sorrow, and you will not suffer those pains that have been spoken of above." Therefore, do not always indulge in carelessness, those desires are not happiness, nor are they eternal, they are not even a sixteenth part of the unsurpassed bliss of the uncontaminated wisdom of meditation. After that, the Lord of Non-Contention heard those words from them, and again personally pointed out the faults in front of those gods themselves. Again, he said, "Those things that you show to us are out of a desire to benefit us, so we will do that. O gods, how else should we be?"

Those sufferings caused by universal lust, we will not obtain. Then, at that time, Musulinda expressed in verses: As, oneself is one's own protector, who else can become a protector? Because oneself is well tamed, one will attain the eternal state. Just as doing good deeds makes one beautiful, other protectors are not. Other lives, even if empty, will follow. Abandoning old age and death, one will fall into the most excellent state. This extremely virtuous self-nature's action, with thought is the best of gods. Practice good deeds, and from it, eat great benefits. Thus, Musulinda showed those gods, and also said: Go, traverse through the forests and nearby forests, even if led by desired sounds, tastes, shapes, and smells, because you should remain mindful as you are. Then, when things become like that, and then those gods, having heard those words, said this: As we should make aspirations, in the future time, this perfectly enlightened Buddha who will appear, the unsurpassed tamer of men, the guide, named Maitreya, may we be born in the human world to his scriptures. As this first gathering that will appear in the future time, may we participate, and after hearing the Dharma, may we also exhaust the defilements. Thus, some have made aspirations to attain unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. After making aspirations, they also took refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Those people will definitely be born in the human world to the scriptures of Maitreya. And seventy thousand other gods, having heard the holy Dharma together, will exhaust the defilements. And those others will see the relics of the Tathagata, and initially those people will obtain the supreme unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment.

I made a prayer for enlightenment. Furthermore, hundreds of gods completely dedicated themselves to the mind of the self-born Buddha. All of those gods' prayers will bear fruit. Then, the lord of the strife-free ones, having understood with his mind, that I have done very many things that benefit others, in order that these may not be taken away again by carelessness, the lord of the strife-free ones granted permission. Those gods made the mind suitable, and having made the mind well tamed, then circumambulated Musulinda from the right side, and went to the shore of that lake. Musulinda also, having done those things that benefit others, in order to benefit the other gods of other places again, departed well. The eighth land, the land of constant bliss, from the land of the strife-free gods, is complete. The great miracle of Musulinda is also complete.
