Merely observing it separately. Likewise, for men and one's own body, seeing those of similar age or exceeding oneself, one cultivates with the thought of brothers and sons. For them, these are the three roots of ascetics, namely, the mind that obstructs from union. Whether it is day or night, whether sleeping or awake, whether children who are very attached to other things, or young people, or old people, whether those who are in an equal state, or those who are in an unequal state, whether those who are happy, or those who are without illness, or those who are sick, whether those who are diligent, or those who are deficient in diligence, whether those who are protected, or those who are well-established in their lineage, or those who are protected and of the same lineage, whether those who have a good appearance, or those who have a bad appearance, whether those who are on the road, or those who are in their homes, whether those who have gone into the gaps of a filled village, or those who dwell in empty houses, whether those who have good attire, or those who have bad attire, whether those who live freely, or those who are bound in prison, whether those who are protected by a master, or those who have been protected since childhood, whether those who are close to a lama or subordinates, or those who are close to those of similar age, or those who are especially afflicted by illness. For all of these, women always follow with all their selves, all the time, and in all states, always with desire bound in their hearts. For example, the sun has light and fire burns, the earth is solid, wind is light and moves, water is moist and wet, just as the four great elements arise with the ultimate cognition of their own characteristics. Likewise, for all women, at all times, there is always attachment following desire, desire always following. From that itself, two other stains arise: jealousy and miserliness. Following these two is one stain that is born together: hypocrisy. Following it is another stain: deception. Its...

The other defilements that follow are as follows: not separating from existence. The other defilements that follow are that one becomes attached to good shapes and abandons those that are unequal. The other defilements that follow are that they are rough. The other defilements that follow are that they are always fighting with their own body and limbs. The other defilements that follow are that they are always necessarily delighted in the practice of separating. The other defilements that follow are that they make one eat the flesh of the back. The defilements that accompany it are that one goes where one should not go. The other defilements that follow are that faith does not arise. The other defilements that follow are that they teach other women the practice of discrimination. The other defilements that have gone after are that there is no joy in anything. The other defilements that follow are that they make one move one's belly. The other defilements that follow are that they destroy lands. The other defilements that follow are that because one only goes to the hells that have become from darkness into darkness, women are like bonds, poison, weapons, precipices, fire, abysses, and snakes, and so forth. If, by chance, seeing the Three Jewels, and proclaiming the Buddha's teachings, one's mind has become softened, then their antidotes are very wondrous here, for even those beings who have not been destroyed in that way will purify their own continuum by the order of methods, and will also purify the continuum of others. Or, by becoming well-joined by having gone forth with faith, having become the nature of a continuum that has meditated on virtue, or else, by relying on virtuous friends, the collections of darkness of faults that have been spoken of as before, which have been connected to the mind since beginningless time, will be utterly destroyed, just as when the sun has risen, the darkness that has entered into the caves and crevices of the mountains.

will destroy those who dwell in the many assembly places. Likewise, if the tales of the sun of the sacred Dharma are discussed, then the mountains of faults will surely be destroyed. Therefore, those who wish to become monks and nuns should not, in the beginning, rely on those who are not holy beings. For those true antidotes, as previously mentioned, are taught by the virtuous spiritual friend. They will also firmly establish the path in a sacred place. Having liberated from sufferings, they will place one in happiness. They will also well show the path of goodness. They will also destroy the darkness that has been inherent since beginningless time. They will also guide one near to the streets of virtue. They will completely remove the thorns of attachment and so forth that have been deeply rooted in oneself for a long time. They will completely save one from falling into the abyss of craving. They will also well show the blissful state of the city that is eternally free from aging and death. Therefore, I shall explain those words that are the opposite of those defilements. Just as the order of before and after is completely proclaimed, the defilements will be utterly destroyed by those that are the opposite of them, according to the order. All of these are indeed for women, but mostly not for men, for women mostly have jealousy and miserliness. For those, what is in accordance with logic becomes an antidote by what is contrary to logic, and they will also surely be liberated from samsara. For those women who have excessive desire, with the antidote of ugliness, to truly look at the body as it is, the abode of disease, the collection of all impure things, which has become a collection of the place of excrement, for a while, whether it is one's own body or another's, one should thoroughly contemplate the characteristics of the body itself, from what does this body come? It is produced and formed from the collection of two impure substances, semen and blood, these two substances produced my body.
