There are those who possess, giving based on the means of wealth. How does the giver hold wealth close through the means of their wealth? 'Let this generate faith, and I shall destroy it.' This is also a stain on giving. Furthermore, there is giving with stains, such as giving for the sake of distinction. For example, 'Having made this one my woman, I will say that she and her lineage came before, and then I will destroy her.' Those who make such distinctions are seen as being under the influence of stains. Furthermore, there is giving that is afflicted by stains, such as giving for the sake of connection. Those women who connect for the sake of offspring give to those who have offspring. These are givings afflicted by stains. Furthermore, givings that are afflicted by stains are like those who take food elsewhere for the sake of trade, or take food for other reasons, or even for five years for other reasons. They give those foods themselves at a high price, for the sake of accumulation. Having given closely to them, they also make a home with possessions. Among them, those who trade in wool, their giving is tainted by stains. Furthermore, there is giving tainted by stains, such as giving for fame. Giving to sons, one's own people, and relatives who are suffering, but doing so without compassion, giving only out of arrogance, that giving for fame is afflicted by stains. If all of these are done without compassion, they will become like that. If the mind is superior, it will also be free from stains. Just as stained clothes are made spotless with ash, so too will the mind become through cultivation. Then, the Bhagavan who sees clearly spoke in verses: How are twelve qualities fully possessed? How are twelve stains removed? Giving becomes completely pure, the opposite of that is complete calculation. Which gods are men? The fruit of giving is supreme.

It is not. The sin of giving and not giving causes the inferior to fall. Desire and the defilement of miserliness go by the power of sons and daughters. Those who desire only food, people will go to death. One cannot be freed from the knot of desire, and the tree of the mind will wither. Destroying the assembly of darkness, it is best to give here. Giving is enjoying the best, and the giver also follows. Giving is the guide to the good path, going to another world. People who are washed by the water of giving, completely immersed in the waves of discipline. Vast wisdom, without defilement, giving can make suffering cease. Those who want to benefit others should abandon the three lamps. Giving and discipline, likewise understand, these are the destroyers of faults. Greed is the vast evil path, filled with waves of discrimination. Becoming the basis of the ocean of suffering, protected by wisdom and discipline. Madness and reduction, in any case, will fall. These bonds of the mind, well guarded by giving and discipline. The disease of affliction will surely destroy, these three are in a disadvantageous position. Giving and discipline, likewise understand, these always go to happiness. The unrestrained, unbearable mind, deluded and deceitful thoughts quickly enter. These three, such as wisdom, make the bonds of people fearful. Even if no fault is seen, what will burn this world? That fire is extinguished by the water of wisdom, and then enters Nirvana. Thus, the Bhagavan, the all-seeing one, clearly wrote this sutra of verses on that stupa. Those donations are not of the gods, but of humans. Therefore, the most excellent is human, not the gods. Therefore, get close to understanding those donations, and everyone should gather all places, and always hold well the heart without method. Because by grasping it, this great tree will also stop. It is burned by the fires of wisdom. By burning it, one will obtain the state of extreme joy, without unrestrained bonds, without exhaustion, without depletion. Therefore

Therefore, even with great effort, one should completely abandon ignorance and negligence as if they were enemies. Furthermore, the eight dharmas are what the gods should abandon, as they bring great shame. What are these? For example, even if karma is fully displayed, one will feel shame at the time of eating. Karma has three forms, namely small, medium, and large, and they will become small, medium, and large. Furthermore, the gods are unable to give even a small amount of charity. Karma also does not transfer. Therefore, when the gods engage in the activity of eating, whatever form of charity they have given, whatever form of precepts they have kept, they will receive food of that same form. When they see that others have more excellent food, with superior fragrance, taste, and touch, great shame will arise in their hearts. When they play in the forests, nearby forests, ponds, and lotus groves, how will all these pleasures exist separately? When other gods see the more excellent pleasures of other gods, they will feel great shame and become disheartened with their own bodies. These five things are the causes of shame for the gods. What are these five? Here, at the time of eating, when they see that other gods have immaculate nectar, while their own food is impure and inferior, they will feel great shame. This is the first cause of shame for the gods. When they see many gods with extremely beautiful forms, adorned with excellent ornaments and attire, and other gods with beautiful forms nearby, the other gods will feel shame. This is the second cause of shame. Furthermore, the third cause of shame is that when the gods go to play in the lotus-filled forests in the sky, nearby forests, mountaintops, and the nature of gold and lapis lazuli, due to the difference in karma, they will go very quickly. Those gods with very little karma will go slowly. They will laboriously try to catch up with their pace.
