These are those who are destined to die, those who are born in the human world. For other sentient beings, various kinds of suffering will arise, which are extremely unbearable. There is no happiness that will not ultimately perish, that will not be completely destroyed, neither in this life nor in other existences. Therefore, first, let us talk about the suffering of the intermediate state beings, those who are called intermediate state beings. For example, those who are blown by the wind of karma, who cannot be seen with the physical eye, but can only be seen with the divine eye, who have the nature of being unimpeded. When they are about to be born as humans, in what way will they be born, and into what kind of family will they be born? Whether it is a lowly, middling, or noble family, those who possess the fruits of generosity, discipline, and wisdom, the intermediate state being will also appear in that way. The types of food for these intermediate state beings are: if they are to be born into poor families, then their food will be rough, unsightly in color, and the smell, taste, touch, and quantity will also be poor. Because the power of generosity is small, it will be difficult to obtain food even after birth. This is the initial suffering of those who are born as humans. After that, after being born, due to the power of karma and afflictions, they will stay in the womb. If they are to be born into poor families, then the mother's food will be bad, there will be rough and sour food, and there will be little food. They will heavily rely on flesh and blood, and the life in the womb that reproduces through the umbilical cord will be unsightly in color and emaciated in body. Due to the movement of the mother's body, they will feel very painful and move in the abdomen. The cold and warmth of the food will also cause harm. In this way, they are tormented, and even in extreme torment, there is no chance to breathe.

The chapter on ེ་མེད་པ་. There is nothing that can make it angry, and there is no accumulation. Beings immersed in piles of feces and urine, there are various kinds of great suffering. This is the second suffering. Even beings in the happy realms are like this, what need is there to mention beings in the hells, hungry ghosts, and animals? Furthermore, there is a third suffering. Following this, if they are to emerge from the womb, the edge of the mother's birth canal will torment them like an eye. Just as when emerging from the hole of a wooden mold for sugarcane, they are squeezed out, so too, when emerging from the womb, they emerge completely from the mother's birth canal. This is another suffering, being born from the womb. After these, there is a fourth suffering. Bodies that are very soft like ghee and the leaves of aquatic plants, fully ripened, are models of youthful bodies. When they are born, when mothers pick them up with their two hands that are rough, coarse, porous, ugly in color, unusable, thin, gapped, thick, pointed, and with unpleasant sounds, it is like being burned by fire or cut by a sword, because they are very soft, so it also causes stinging pain. If this very soft body is initially dressed in soft clothes, then those clothes are like putting the body into something rough, thick, coarse, porous, very old, sewn, and shrunken. In cold times, it also becomes very cold. When born, in whatever house they are in, they are severely threatened by the cold. Similarly, in hot times, the heat becomes very strong, because it burns intensely, they are tormented due to the lack of generosity. Internally, the suffering of being burned also arises from the mother's womb. Because his generosity is deficient, he subsequently suffers from food. Even when eating breast milk and food, they suffer. Sometimes, the breast milk is because the mother's food is insufficient.

Because of the change, the milk there will also decrease. Because of being extremely emaciated, having a haggard complexion, an ugly face, and being weak, with only tendons, bones, and skin remaining, the body becomes hungry, becoming a body that invites diseases. It always becomes a body that is unbearable to rely on. Then, at other times, even if there is a small amount of food and drink, it will feel that the smell, taste, and touch are small and inferior because of the discriminating thought of clinging to completely possessing them, or it will be overcome by other people's food. If forced to eat, one will either lose one's life or be difficult to maintain due to extreme emaciation. Therefore, if one has to eat milk, then, just like beautiful things, the body appears large due to its appearance, thereby sustaining life. Therefore, since this is a bad giving, all of it will be completely exhausted. Therefore, even if the belly is well satisfied by the merit of food, even so, great suffering caused by food will arise. Following that, it has the fifth suffering, which is caused by desire. When it is tormented by the suffering caused by food like that, the desire to wander in various places will arise, because it is destroyed by hunger. Because it is tormented by that suffering, if possible, it will steal. If possible, it will also do some other unhelpful things, because it will kill the people living together, thereby causing death or the suffering of being on the verge of death to become even more severe. The most extreme of all these sufferings is the suffering caused by hunger and thirst. At that time, Musulinda spoke verses to those who were without strife. Like: In most of the sufferings of samsara, there is nothing comparable to the suffering of hunger. What torments these sentient beings? It comes from the nature of creating non-virtue. The fire that rises from one's own body is called hunger. The fire of discriminating thought, like trees, destroys everything.
