Therefore, one must rely on it in any case, just like this: do not be fond of sleep. A king who is not controlled by sleep will contemplate those things that should be well contemplated. Wisdom will not become very attached, nor will it become completely ignorant wisdom. Enemies will not be able to defeat him, and the mind will become focused. He will possess definite meaning, and after possessing definite meaning, he will do things that are well analyzed. Therefore, after analyzing well, the person who does this, his affairs will mature well. It will be well accomplished, it will not take a long time, and it will be completed at an earlier time. He will become cautious, and because he acts with caution, his life will be prolonged. Because things that are well thought out will be contemplated, the nature of the one who thinks well will not become discouraged. He will be surrounded by people, cities, and ministers. He will also become wealthy. Because the king's wealth exists among the many people, the glory of possessing wealth will be universally present, and therefore, after becoming glorious, he will also give alms. He will also keep the precepts. After his body is destroyed and he dies, due to his causes and conditions, he will become the ruler of the gods of the Heaven of No Strife in the world of the good realms of the heavens. The king should also strive to do other things. What is that? Just like this: not being lazy. A king who is not lazy, because he begins with the reason of steadfast diligence, all his affairs will prosper. He will surely complete, accomplish, and control. He will become invincible, and at all times, his nature will become joyful, attached, and cherished. His country, cities, villages, towns, and markets will also become very prosperous. A king who is not lazy also possesses steadfast diligence and is able to suppress others, and all those affairs that he begins will be completely accomplished. Why is that? Because he is not lazy.

Those who have become like that, because they can be well integrated into places and times with reason, therefore those who are not lazy, whether worldly or transcendental, until the ultimate need of nirvana, everything will be perfectly complete. If he also starts to do other things, what to say about those things that can be free from attachment to places and times? Everything he does will be uniquely successful. So, how can doing worldly things become perfectly complete? Similarly, doing transcendental things together with wisdom, such as generosity, discipline, and wisdom. Just because of a slight influence of these, after the body is destroyed and dies, one can become the ruler of the gods of the Non-Contention Heaven in the world of the heavens and good destinies, because of such causes and conditions. The king should also do other things. What is this? It's like: a steadfast friend. It is considered very good for a king to have a steadfast friend, so he can enjoy the throne for a long time. Without bondage and not driven by others, like trees, those who are very numerous and well established will not be shaken, and the wicked cannot shake them. Just as the wind invades the forest, this king's friend is very steadfast. Because his nature is very good, everyone should approach him, he is the most delightful. For those who possess the merit of having a very steadfast friendship, they will also possess thirteen worldly merits, as follows: Whenever a loophole appears in him, he will try his best to make up for it, and the same is true for all difficult actions and extremely declining matters. Why does he do this? Because anyone who is a friend of a friend will also become his friend, and will say that this is my friend's friend, and then be friendly with him. Furthermore, all those things are done by himself entirely, serving in every way and with all of himself. If these people encounter difficulties, even to the point of sacrificing their lives, they would not give up even one percent. They also try to endure all kinds of things. Whatever little things there are in his house, he gives them all away. When he becomes prosperous, he becomes very happy. When he suffers, he shares the suffering together. Even if everyone is angry with him, he will not change. Those who are with him, even eating together, feel happy. Those who are in his house also pursue goals without harming the senses, and whatever is in their own house, they give to him without hesitation. Whatever little things there are in the house, they tell their friends. They also personally tell their own affairs. One who possesses these thirteen qualities is a friend. Worldly friendship possesses such qualities, and a king who truly possesses these, with the strength of one person, a king who truly possesses strength, becomes very powerful. Since he already has a lot, what more to say about a herdsman? Therefore, the king should strive to make virtuous friends. The path beyond the world is joyful, thereby accomplishing the goal. In short, the merits of friendship are ten. For example, if someone is going to do something that is not in accordance with the Dharma, he will stop him. He will encourage people to give alms, and he will encourage people to observe the precepts. He will try his best to prevent people from making bad friends.
