Homage to the Supreme! Lust initially enslaves, Then burns unbearably. Initially, it diminishes speech and wisdom, Then diminishes happiness. Therefore, a steadfast person Should not rely on anything that intoxicates. Those who rely on intoxicants Flutter like eagles, Similarly generating various confusions. Liquor is a great poison to be abandoned. Whoever sees liquor as poison, Sees the supreme state. Whoever drinks with attachment, Drinks molten copper juice. The root of all sins, Is this one thing: drinking liquor. It makes the mind troubled, With discipline as the root of the mind, Therefore, the mind cannot be focused, Nor can it discern phenomena. When a monk relies on liquor, He will not delight in solitude. Liquor distracts the mind, The heart also becomes wild and unrestrained, Nor will he delight in the Dharma. He does not understand this world, nor the next, Nor does he understand conduct, Nor does he understand the teacher's teachings. He contradicts the sacred Dharma, And what does the teacher say? If one does not understand for oneself, What can I say here? Beauty and ugliness, like the razor's edge of speech, How can others fully understand? He will change worldly affairs, And will completely fall away from the Dharma. When relying on burning liquor, One sees people as without wealth. He does not remember all that has passed, And becomes confused about the present, How can he have thoughts of the future? Liquor wastes the three times. Various forms are also completely destroyed, The minds of sentient beings are also destroyed. The source of generating faults, Liquor thoroughly denigrates the Dharma. Thus, those birds dwelling in the caves are always full of joy, and from the excellent exhortations of the pure ones who are the root of the teacher, they declare to the gods. Having heard that, those gods whose virtuous deeds are most excellent also remember other lives and understand the faults of liquor. Therefore, they do not drink liquor, nor do they become heedless. Thus, thus, those who drink intoxicants.

Those gods, again, play to their heart's content with an exceedingly joyful mind, delighting in the sound of drums with five instruments, exceedingly captivating, exceedingly melodious, and constantly joyful. For a long time, they play in those caves with various kinds of captivating divine treasures, and they go out in the same way they entered. After going out, again, because of their craving for other places, those unrestrained and wandering gods, with joyful minds, enjoy viewing the forests and nearby woods, together with their companions, delighting in lotus ponds, rivers, and dense thickets. Those gods, enjoying the fruits of their well-performed deeds, do not become satiated with such incomparable and abundantly prosperous divine pleasures, solely because of the nature of the darkness of distraction caused by the fault of distraction. Their nature never completely diminishes. Even if they are satisfied by worldly pleasures or dominated by the nature of distraction, the senses never become free from craving. The gods, with the five desirable qualities of divine substances, increase day by day, creating wonders in successive order, conforming to the mind, being incomparable and endowed with virtues, therefore they never feel satisfied. Just as water never satisfies the ocean. Likewise, the gods also love their own kind during that time, and because of the abundance of various pleasures, they wander in the forests and nearby woods, being completely carried away by the flood of desire, and they rejoice together with their companions, until those evil deeds they have done and accumulated are exhausted. Once those evil deeds are exhausted, they will die and be reborn from the race of gods. After being reborn, just as karma leads them near, just as those gods are completely bound by the ropes of karma.

And even that kind of happiness will completely disappear, and they will be reborn again in hells, pretas, and animals. If they have done good deeds, by the karma that will be experienced in other times, they will be born as humans, and in Jambudvipa they will become extremely happy, born into the highest noble caste, accompanied by dancing, singing, laughter, and pride. They will become extremely happy. Men will be born near the most beautiful places with garlands, lutes, jewels, beautiful clothes, and extremely excellent forms, possessing perfection and excellence, whether as kings or ministers of kings, whether in the country of Kashi or Kosala, or on various islands, by the corresponding fruits of that karma. The entire collection of all kinds of radiant gods is complete, the seventh ground is complete. Again, monks, knowing the ripening of the fruits of karma, he will look all around at the other lands of the gods of non-contention. Through the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees how the land of the gods of non-contention is constrained by what is called "bound and wandering." On that land, by what karma beings are born, he sees that extremely pure maturation, the fruit of the karma that produces white happiness does not deceive, the almsgiving that pleases the noble ones and the superior wisdom will transform hateful desires into satisfying fruits, such as causing them to be born as gods. If what kind of hateful desires and satisfying desires are the fruit of being born as gods, it is that those who, with an extremely virtuous mind, act extremely purely, with a melting heart arising from reverence, completely abandon killing and taking what is not given, just as before. They also abandon sexual misconduct, such as those who have experienced sexual intercourse in other lifetimes, become attached after hearing about sexual intercourse, and are completely harmed by a mind indulged in desire, and do not experience desires led by craving for objects.
