Except for those dharmas that accomplish transcendence and the dharmas of the great virtuous grounds, all others will be greatly shaken. Therefore, first of all, those who have vowed to be renunciates should, like the earth, examine individually those shaken grounds of the mind. For they cause cyclic existence and also cause the grounds of the mind to be greatly shaken. Three things also cause the grounds of the mind to be greatly shaken. These are desire, hatred, and ignorance, which cause them to be greatly shaken. Just as when the earth shakes, places filled with calm water are stirred up by the wind. The minds of ordinary individuals also occur in the same way; when desire, hatred, or ignorance arise, they lose their composure, and their hearts and complexions become red, or their complexions become dull. Therefore, renunciates, and those who have vowed to be renunciates and are oriented towards nirvana, and those who have vowed to be renunciates, should take these causes to heart. Those who closely examine through the causes of these causes will never suffer. These things that have become the causes of the grounds of the mind are transcendent. Furthermore, if one approximates them with these ordinary causes, just as ants emerge from their nests, divine rain will fall. Similarly, renunciates who have vowed to be renunciates should examine these transcendent things, just as from villages, cities, and marketplaces, donors and patrons, renunciates and brahmins, and householders also demolish houses and come to where the Buddha resides. At that time, the causes that reveal the causes that have become the true causes will also be approximated by renunciates and brahmins in this way. Those who are mendicants, Brahmins, and householders, those places where the Blessed One, having become cloudy, causes great rain to descend, they will approach there well. These reasons are supreme, not the reasons for ordinary rain to fall. Furthermore, these bad mendicants who claim to be mendicants speculate about the reasons for the moon being seized by Rahu. Even the moon being seized by Rahu will occur, just as black butter sinks into water. Those reasons are not beautiful and will not bring peace. The reasons that mendicants have accomplished that are beautiful and transcendent should be examined. In short, in the degenerate age, the age of strife, the sacred Dharma will be seized by Rahu, just as the black butter of the sacred Dharma sinks into the hearts of those with wrong views and will not be extracted. These reasons are supreme, not the reasons for the worldly moon being seized by Rahu. Furthermore, if bad mendicants who claim to be mendicants closely describe the supreme reasons for the worldly moon being seized by Rahu. How will the moon be seized by Rahu? Just as these birds fly from low to the sky, this reason for approaching is not beautiful. The beautiful transcendent reasons accomplished by mendicants and those who claim to be mendicants should be carefully examined. When the age causes the moon of the sacred Dharma to be seized by Rahu, how will those mendicants who have entered the path of the sacred Dharma and possess supreme virtue become humble? Like birds, acting lower and lower, the doors of those with wrong views, like the sky, will be opened, and they will speak increasingly inferior words. These supreme reasons that have become faults of the age should be accepted. What mendicants and those who claim to be mendicants say is not the ordinary moon being seized by Rahu.

Furthermore, for what reason do bad ascetics claim to be ascetics? This is close to inferring the reason for the sun being eclipsed by Rahu. How do worldly people change? When the sun is eclipsed by Rahu, if the directions appear like the color of a peacock's neck, then auspiciousness will arise here. Gentle winds will blow fiercely. The directions are clear, beautiful, and one sees them rotating from the right. Because it interrupts meditation, these reasons of ascetics who claim to be ascetics are not beautiful. These worldly people do not know here, nor are they at ease. Similarly, ascetics who claim to be ascetics, because they hold onto other auspicious reasons, should be close to symbolizing the transcendent. How does it diminish? The sun of the Bodhisattva being eclipsed by Rahu, who is enlightened with omniscience, will occur, either for one kalpa, or two kalpas, or three kalpas.
