If someone becomes a doctor who does some healing, then in other aspects he will not feel happy. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke verses. How is it? Phlegm etc. are not faults, desire etc. are other faults. Phlegm etc. will not cause sentient beings to be born in evil destinies. These are the faults of the mind, which will indicate evil destinies. Therefore, those who are peaceful are superior, phlegm etc. are not here. Initially and ultimately superior, it is not to fully show and obtain attachment. Whoever is the doctor who tames the mind is the doctor, the doctor of the body is not the doctor. Taming the mind is difficult to know, unlike the desires of worldly people. Thus, the Blessed One Light Protector said to the renunciates not to be doctors for this reason. There are other faults in being a doctor, like this: when being a doctor, many faults will increase, and one will be overwhelmed by desires. Afterwards, one will argue and also speak ill of other doctors. Livelihoods will also be destroyed. These will increase and become the cause of being reborn as extremely hungry ghosts. Thus, being overwhelmed by defilements, the mind wavers, and ignorance will become strong. Being overwhelmed by ignorance, if one sees the behavior of women well, one will be led by improper attention. Those whose wisdom is foolish, after seeing those women, will be overwhelmed by desire. Those faults are not in phlegm etc. One should treat the faults of desire etc., because they are the powerful causes of hell, hungry ghosts, and animal realms. Also because of that, after seeing the behavior of women, one will be led by improper attention. Those whose mindfulness is foolish, after seeing those women, will be overwhelmed by desire. Renunciates should always strive to awaken desire etc., not phlegm etc. These are other dual dharmas, which should not be done by practitioners who are facing nirvana, but should be

Entering into meditative absorption is for the purpose of burning (afflictions). Furthermore, the third dharma should be completely abandoned. What is this? For example, engaging in the work of painting. Those renunciates who engage in the work of painting should be dominated by desire, because those who have a concept of color generate other desires. Various kinds of actions abandon this world and engage in other various kinds of colors. Those whose minds are clear do not understand, but engage in other various kinds of colors. Therefore, renunciates should always understand the various kinds of actions, that is, the mind painter teaches the five realms of existence with five true colors. What are the mind painter and the five colors? For example, extremely vast faith and so on, and from the mouth of one who has thoroughly practiced white actions, and the extremely vast merit generated by generosity preceded by intention, and being free from the defilement of stinginess, and with an extremely joyful mind, with discipline well established on the mountain of morality, the mind painter depicts the purity of the gods with discipline. Furthermore, practitioners should draw near to these actions of the mind. For example, people are adorned with many colors of inferior, middling, and superior actions. Among them, those who possess wealth and are extremely disciplined are also adorned with the colors of extremely white actions. Those who are extremely wealthy and disciplined are adorned with two colors, black and white. Those who have little wealth but are disciplined are adorned with two colors, white and red. Those who are poor and whose discipline is corrupted are adorned with the color black. Those who have weak diligence and strong desire are adorned with the colors of black and poverty. Those who possess beauty and are of noble birth are depicted with extremely pure white color.

So. Those born into intermediate lineages are clearly depicted with red paint. Those that have become few are clearly depicted by the mind painter with the colors of black deeds. If a king or a minister of a king, having passed good deeds, then performs many non-virtuous deeds, then their white color will diminish and the black will gradually increase. If one becomes poor and is born into a very low caste, their black deeds will subside and the white color will become more prominent. Those who are born into an intermediate lineage, are endowed with excellent form, and also perform intermediate deeds, are adorned by the mind painter with white and red colors. Thus, the human world is made exceedingly beautiful with various colors, and is thus manifestly depicted as exceedingly beautiful. Furthermore, one should look at other beings. Which ones? For example, the hells. The hells are also clearly depicted by the mind painter with two colors, such as yellow and black. What does yellow represent? It represents hatred. What does black represent? It represents jealousy. Those born in the lower and intermediate hells are adorned with only two colors, such as blue and black. Thus, the hells are adorned with various colors, and this is certain to be understood. One should also look at other beings, such as the pretas. The pretas are also exceedingly miserable, being adorned with jealousy and miserliness. They are adorned with black colors, wandering and acting in the darkness of black color. The pretas, scorched by hunger and thirst, their black deeds and black bodies are all adorned with the color of one deed. Furthermore, with what colors of deeds are the animals adorned? Black and red.
