Having been sent away, may you not regret it later! I have heard that the place and time of death are always near, these are the two factors that lead to death. I clearly see what causes Kauśika to be reborn into other species again. Moreover, it will not fall into evil destinies, nor has it been seen to be born for the eighth time on the walls of stupas. This is because Kauśika was previously indulgent, and because of indulgence, all lives have passed away. When the signs of death, which indicate the exhaustion of good deeds, appear and remain near him, a virtuous friend also recognizes these signs. Kauśika, those things that can prevent the appearance of the signs of death will occur. Please keep happiness and well-being in mind! Kauśika said this: From these lotus feet of mine and from my seat, what kind of action will prevent me from dying here? Hearing these words, the sage said this to Kauśika: Listen carefully, Kauśika, what is the method by which you will not move from our own seat? This Shakyamuni Buddha, born from the lineage of the Ikshvaku sage, is the all-knowing, all-seeing one, the master of all karmas and fruits of samsara, the one who closely shows the sacred path to all sentient beings, the unsurpassed king of Dharma, he will teach those dharmas that will prevent us from moving from our seat. Then, Kauśika swiftly went from there to where Jambudvipa is, desiring to hear the Dharma from the Blessed One, and thus approached the Blessed One well. Then, Kauśika saw the Blessed One, the one eye, the one who shows the sacred path, teaching the Dharma, bringing happiness and well-being, bringing methods, and well showing the path to the city of Nirvana. The Dharma he taught, which is good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, with good meaning, good words, unadulterated, complete, and purified, is like this: suffering and the ripening of suffering.

Those who have completely ceased suffering and transformed into freedom, even the gods hear of them, and they demonstrate the four noble truths: suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path. Then, Kauśika asked the Blessed One Shakyamuni: "Oh, Gautama, here, obstacles constantly arise for me, and signs of death appear. My obstacles..." After praying thus, the Blessed One spoke: "It is so. It is so. Kauśika, listen carefully as it is. Causes and non-causes will constantly arise, and those future lives will also constantly arise, because of negligence, wandering negligently, virtuous actions have been exhausted. Those who are controlled by bodily desire must completely go elsewhere. It is difficult to attain transcendence over this great wilderness of samsara, which at all times becomes the master of beings, namely birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and encountering unpleasant things, and separating from pleasant things. Filled with the faults of the wrath of wild animals and the fear of lions, burned by the heat of the sun, shrouded in the darkness of ignorance, harmed by the arising of attachment to everything, these are all the individual childish beings. Filled with the deer of desire, becoming its companion, filled with hundreds and thousands of trees of conceptualization, separated from the nectar of the arising of the holy Dharma. Separated from the virtuous friend who skillfully explains and guides. Many wrong views, the path of desire of the heretics, the former and latter limits become vast. The five paths of beings, separated from essence, the vast darkness and suffering of the wilderness of samsara, Kauśika, do you not weary of samsara? Those who are deluded by desire must go elsewhere from here. And, they will also be separated from those lives. The summary and life of those.
