Adorned beautifully with various kinds of flowers. Having entered therein, he was also surrounded by a multitude of goddesses. Thus, they frolic in that garden while singing songs, enjoying themselves to the fullest. In that garden, the high and low terrains are well divided, and the terrains covered with various kinds of flowers are well divided, and the terrains where various kinds of golden birds sing are well divided, and in some places, they are also adorned with trees of the seven precious substances, with various birds and bees making pleasant sounds. In some places, the terrains of wish-fulfilling trees are well divided, and the lord of the gods, Indra, observes them everywhere with his eyes, and is delighted by the blazing splendor of the light that fills the assembly of gods, which is greater than the moon and the sun. Surrounded by golden trees, adorned with palaces of lapis lazuli, everywhere adorned with pairs of gold and silver pillars, adorned with lakes of blue lapis lazuli lotuses, he saw these sights. Then, the king of the gods, Indra, thought to himself: In order for me to dwell, I should enter this palace. He sits on a colorful cushion of the gods that is not woven from textiles. Sitting, driven by his well-done deeds and merits, he contemplates the very clear wall, and sees there those like images painted of the hundredfold transmigrations of Indra. He also contemplates the names written there, that these are the powerful ones who have transmigrated from there. Like this: named Good Fortune, named Wealth, named Possessing Good Conduct, named White, named Good Intelligence, named All Bliss, named Steadfast, named All-Seeing, named Thousand Eyes, named All Joy, named Empty Appearance, named Glorious Garland, named Holding Auspiciousness, named Blue Color, named Immortal, named Unchanging, named Making Happiness, named Holding Supreme Giving, named Holding Auspiciousness, named All Joy, named Indra, and so forth, thirty powerful ones who have transmigrated from the world of the gods, and were born there by virtuous deeds, and when their virtuous deeds were exhausted, they transmigrated from that place of the lord of the gods, and then again he sees sentient beings born in hells, animals, and hungry ghosts, and sees those whose bodies are manifestly afflicted by various sufferings. He sees those born in those lifetimes who are exceedingly miserable and harmed by suffering, appearing like shadows. // The Noble Dharma of Mindfulness, Volume Thirty-One, those born in the realm of hungry ghosts. Those whose bodies are tormented by hunger and thirst, whose bodies are like skin, bones, and sinews connected, and those born in the realm of animals, who devour each other's bodies, tormented by the suffering of being devoured, and those born in the realm of humans, who are manifestly tormented by the suffering of seeking, these also he sees.
