There are garlands, fragrant flowers, various colors, fresh flowers, every season is pleasant, every season is delightful, women are happy to see, women give alms, there are grapevines, there are Kapittha trees, there are Parushaka trees, covered with colors and decorations, radiant, growing by the water, making the hillside happy, visible from afar, some such things grow in Jambudvipa, some grow in the unpleasant north. Some trees grow in the city of the Asuras. In that resplendent city of the Asuras, some trees are only flower trees, some are trees with flowers, some are fruit trees, and some are trees that produce wine. The great lord of the Asuras, Rahu, is surrounded by the daughters of the Asuras, dancing very much, laughing heartily, playing to the fullest, rejoicing to the fullest, experiencing fleeting, impermanent, unstable, unpleasant pleasures. That lord of the Asuras has four consorts, one named As-Desired Beauty, one named Possessing All Fragrances, one named Forest Beauty, and one named Auspicious Mother. Their maids also number twelve hundred thousand trillion Asura daughters, among whom they are surrounded by him, dwelling with minds attached to desire. At that time, the names of the amazing pleasures and all the worldly enjoyments are not easy to know. There, countless Asuras attend to him, in that palace adorned with a thousand pillars, in that place decorated with silver houses, playing and enjoying themselves, experiencing all kinds of pleasures, enjoying the fruits of their own karma. Then, the Bhikshu, knowing the ripening of karmic fruits, examined the karma and dharma of Rahu, thinking: What kind of karma caused the lord of the Asuras, Rahu, to become such a being? What did he do that, through the ripening of that karma, he experiences such a result?

There are verses such as these: Without a cause, there is no happiness; no matter what you do, you will not experience it. The result is related to karma, just as a fruit depends on a seed. The result of good deeds is virtue, and one will definitely be reborn as a god or a human. Evil deeds will definitely lead to the three lower realms, like the world of Asuras. Those born in the animal realm have weak and confused wisdom. How can we see them experiencing happiness? There must be a cause for this. Thus, a monk who is diligent in practice and possesses mindfulness, examines with the wisdom arising from hearing, and knows that in the past he was a Brahmin, proficient in the Vedas, skilled in the branches of the Vedas, adept at storytelling, and extremely fond of giving. He gave drinks, food, fruits, roots, water, houses, bedding, and cushions to those who entered the forest paths. He also gave a lot of food, drinks, bedding, and cushions to the poor, blind, beggars, and destitute people who lived at the gate. At that time, he was endowed with right view. Once, the monastery of the Sangha, called Mithila Garden, was twenty yojanas in extent, decorated with hundreds of thousands of stupas, surrounded by golden light. It was built by five hundred kings, including one named Mi. Among them, the base of the stupa was made of gold, surrounded by golden light, decorated with the seven precious jewels, adorned with various reliefs, and decorated with various words of the Buddha's teachings. On that stupa were also painted gardens and forests, as before. At that time, all the trees that were painted in Rahula's residence existed in Jambudvipa, and the painters painted them on that stupa as they had seen them. There were also many ponds filled with water, as before. Once, four thousand chariots went to that forest, carrying food, porridge, and water for the travelers entering the forest. After some time, the stupa was two yojanas high and five kroshas in circumference.
