If he is not born in the hells, among the pretas, and among the animals, but has the same fate as humans, and is born among humans, then, due to the karma associated with this, he will dwell in various gardens, being very happy and blissful, possessing various clothes, various joyful stories, various behaviors, and will be able to see various things worth seeing. Then, that monk again distinguishes the three abodes of the gods of the Four Great Kings, along with the maturation of karmic results, and contemplates the fourth abode. Through the knowledge gained from hearing, he sees the gods called "Third Joyful." Their ten abodes are as follows: joyful fragrance, beautiful sound, attachment to it, lotus pond, white body, mutual joy, true acts of desire, retinue, various behaviors, and dwelling in a state endowed with the posture of sitting cross-legged. These are the ten abodes of the gods of the Third Joyful. That monk distinguishes the maturation of their karma. He contemplates, in which of these abodes will which gods be born? He observes through the knowledge gained from hearing that if one performs such actions, one will be born there in accordance with them, and the maturation will arise in accordance with that action. Among them, the first abode of the Four Great Kings, called "Joyful Fragrance," he contemplates what kind of beings will be born there? He observes through the knowledge gained from hearing that if someone is mindful and cultivates meditation, and for the sake of accumulating merit, offers land for a garden to the Sangha, or a sugarcane garden, or a mango garden, or a mango tree garden, and makes full use of it, then after death, he will be born in the happy realm of the heavens, among the gods of Joyful Fragrance. Having been born there, he will obtain many pleasures and enjoy having his body anointed with heavenly sandalwood and the finest sandalwood powder, being surrounded by many goddesses, possessing various appearances and postures, and together with those skilled in laughter, play, and coquetry, in lotus ponds and water lily ponds.

In the spaces of the gardens, garlands of flowers, garments worn, those with exceedingly joyful minds rejoice, and indulge in various pleasures. The various divine fragrances there, emanating from those lotus groves and divine flowers, emit a strong fragrance for a hundred yojanas. Those goddesses who inhale the fragrance, all intoxicated by various exceedingly pleasant and exceedingly charming fragrances, become a hundred times more intoxicated by the divine fragrance. Those who have affection for those exceedingly intoxicated celestial retinues, together with those deities, enjoy various pleasures a hundredfold, and they go together to the riverside. The names of those rivers are: Flowing Jewels, Flowing Fragments of Jewels, Flowing Gold, Rivers of Flowing Wine, Rivers of Flowing Honey, and Rivers of Flowing Foam. On the banks of all those rivers, adorned with flocks of swans, ruddy shelducks, and geese, emitting bird sounds, and covered with tree forests. Those trees are also surrounded by birds of the seven precious substances, emitting pleasant sounds. Those goddesses who are skilled at singing melodious songs, hearing the birds making sounds, listen intently to the other birds wandering in the gardens, emitting sounds that are pleasing to the divine ears. Those who have affection for the desires of the land and have affection for the sounds of the birds, abandoning all those pleasures, listen to the sounds of the birds. Hearing various pleasant bird sounds, they listen to various kinds of pleasures, and continuous calls with seven tones. In other rivers, the goddesses happily make sounds, sing, laugh, and drink the divine wine that is free from the fault of intoxication. Seeing those scenes, they also rejoice together with them, as well as the peaks of other mountains of beryl, silver, crystal, and gold, rivers, waterfalls, ponds, beautiful forests, and lotus groves adorned with various flocks of birds.
