Then, the monk who knows the ripening of the fruits of karma will contemplate the abodes of the ever-intoxicated gods. With the knowledge that comes from hearing, he sees how the abodes of the ever-intoxicated gods, called the Cool Water Place, abide. He wonders, 'Which beings will be born there?' He investigates with the knowledge that comes from hearing. If one has compassion, fully cultivated with a compassionate mind, and when other beings are dying, in order to relieve the thirst of those suffering from thirst, or if one gives sugarcane juice or cold water to those who are terrified and agitated by the messengers of Yama, then by the power of that well-done deed, when he dies, he will be born among those gods in the abodes of the ever-intoxicated gods, called the Cool Water Place. Having been born there, he will delight in the gatherings of cool water and the places where rivers are abundant. Carelessness deludes the mind and is born in a place of carelessness, damaged by carelessness. Good deeds make one even more fond of the happiness of the land, and this endless happiness will be experienced as long as the deeds created and accumulated by desires, lovely, and beautiful things are not exhausted. When the deeds are exhausted, he will then die from the heavenly realm. After death, if he is not born in hell, hungry ghosts, and animals because of the deeds to be experienced in other lifetimes, but is born among humans with the same fate as humans, then in accordance with this, the fear of hunger, thirst, fatigue, and famine will not occur, and he will always abide in great happiness. Even if he comes to lands he has never seen, he will feel joy and satisfaction, and even if he is idle, he will see many things being given as charity because of beds and medicines for healing diseases. If someone places a corpse or a picture like a corpse in order to make a monk with pure discipline despondent, then that person will be born among the gods of Steadfast Joy in the world of the happy path of heaven. Having been born there, he will constantly rejoice again and again in the abodes of heaven such as Vaiḍūrya, gold, coral, Andanila, and emerald in the Steadfast Joy, and like a single day, he will experience hundreds of thousands of uninterrupted pleasures. If he hears many different kinds of musical instruments, he will become even more attached to joy without interruption. Whatever arises from affliction is beyond comparison. In heaven, there will be many foods, drinks, clothes, flowers, and fragrances that intoxicate and bring joy. There, such joys arise, such as: joy in seeing a garden, joy in hearing the sounds of various birds, joy in music, joy in seeing a goddess, joy in living in abundance, joy in sweet fragrances, joy in wearing unsewn clothes, joy in being perfumed by various incenses, joy in gathering food and drink, joy in playing, joy in walking in the sky, joy in seeing a beloved god, joy in looking from the top of a jewel mountain to the top of another mountain.
