Just as one inquires about walls, all things are good and very good, so one inquires into the mind. Just as day and night, the stream of mind arises and the state of mind changes, so day and night, one follows after karma. Just as wind, smoke, and dust, suffering destroys the picture, so if one abandons good and non-good, then the picture of karma is also destroyed. Thus, the monk directly sees that the mind is dependent like a painter, thereby truly seeing karma and becoming disgusted with samsara. The various deeds of those various gods, as long as they desire, create and accumulate pleasant suffering, they will surely experience the happy realms, and they will experience it until their karma is exhausted. Thereafter, they will die from that heavenly realm, and after death, if they are not born in hell, hungry ghosts, or animals due to karma that will be experienced in other lifetimes, and if they are equal to humans and born among humans, then from that cause, in accordance with their cause, they will always have great magical powers called "Constant Goer," and they will be wealthy and live by holding official positions, so it is seen. Then again, the monk who knows the ripening of the fruits of karma contemplates the abode of the gods who are always intoxicated with pleasure, and when he examines it with the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees how the abode of the gods who are always intoxicated with pleasure, called "High Place," abides. Thinking about which beings will be born there, he examines it with the wisdom arising from hearing, and through the manifestation of well-practiced deeds, with a mind fully cultivated by thought, whoever makes a place of merit to protect sentient beings from cold and heat, then after that body is separated, they will be born among the gods abiding in the high heavenly realms of the happy realms. Having been born there, they will abide in happiness through touch and will experience various kinds of pleasures of the objects of the five senses. In that realm of gods, there are gardens near gardens, such as places where Mandarava flowers bloom, dense places of union, comfortable places of rest, places full of play and sound, and places of illusory joy.

I, the fearless one, in those gardens near the groves, surrounded by hosts of gods and goddesses, they rejoice, they laugh, they play, they are charming. They delight with five kinds of musical instruments, their minds content, freely proclaiming whatever they wish, endowed with supreme bliss, living happily, moving from lotus grove to lotus grove, adorned with a multitude of precious jewels that match the heavens, always living without worry, from one high place to another, illuminated by the light of the burning golden Mount Sumeru ranges, those without bodily ailments wander everywhere, always dwelling intoxicated with bliss. Those born there by the deeds of many well-performed desires, they rejoice, they play, they indulge in all kinds of pleasures. In the heavenly realms adorned with rivers, waterfalls, and ponds, as long as that pleasant and desirable action has not come to an end, they will rejoice there. Afterwards, they will die from that realm of the gods. After death, if they are not born in hell, among the pretas, or among the animals due to the karma experienced for other times, but are born among humans with the same fate as humans, then they will become great kings, with minds full of Dharma, and will see that the whole world is delighted. The Noble Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness, Chapter Twenty-Eight. Then, the monk, knowing the ripening of the fruits of karma, contemplates the abodes of the gods who are always intoxicated. He investigates with the knowledge arising from hearing, and sees how the abode of the gods who are always intoxicated, called the abode of intoxication with grape wine, exists. He wonders, 'Which beings will be born there?' He investigates with the knowledge arising from hearing, and sees those who have exhausted the end of virtuous deeds, who are endowed with morality, who desire benefit, who have gentle compassion, who are gentle by nature, who are upright, who are without deceit, who do not harm others, who give to the mendicants and brahmins of the four directions who are afflicted and without protectors for one day or two.
