Those called "Utpala" who became friends with each other, those with feathers and wings like those made of seven precious jewels, possessing their own light, having clearly seen those extremely intoxicated gods, spoke in verses as follows: The gods are always extremely joyful, We are always extremely joyful, Between the gods and the birds, Differences are truly not visible. They have not seen the practice of Dharma, At no time is there practice of liberation. If they become gods there, Those who become birds are the same. Whoever is liberated by carelessness, Whoever is always delighted in the Dharma, In the world, those gods, The noble ones know they abide in mindfulness. If the gods play and rejoice, If we play and rejoice, The gods and those who roam in the sky, Will not become different. By the differences of actions, The laws of birth change differently, Those who fall into non-Dharma, Birth is not good anywhere. Whoever does not know the end of all these cycles of existence, That god and the foolish ones, Are always the same as the birds. The suffering of birth, the suffering of aging, And the suffering of death itself, And the suffering of being separated from suffering, These sufferings are continuous. In the realm of practice of the stainless Dharma, Whoever's mind abides in that way, In the world, those gods, The noble ones know they abide in mindfulness. Whoever comes from the cause of birth, Well knows it is the nature of suffering, Those gods do not become attached to those who engage in useless desires. When separated from many friends, relatives, and one's own retinue, Whoever does not become weary of samsara, Those gods are the same as the birds. Seeing the fault of that carelessness, Drinking alcohol is seen as a slightly inferior thing, The drinker is able to digest, Carelessness cannot digest. People who are ruined by carelessness, Wander in the five realms of samsara, Therefore, surpassing the carelessness of drinking alcohol, In every way, it is superior. Fine wine, in one day, Makes all sentient beings careless, When wandering for millions of kalpas, Carelessness also cannot be purified. Whoever is free from carelessness, They go to the place of immortality, Whoever is overcome by carelessness, That person always goes to existence. People should do beneficial things, Abandon those careless things.

Thus, those who are heedless with afflictions, the Buddha declared them as unbearable. Even birds with light minds do not rejoice in heedlessness. Why do the gods indulge in heedlessness? Do they not abandon that which is special? Thus, having been urged by good deeds, for the sake of benefiting the gods and for the purpose of making them understand, one teaches them like parents. However, those gods whose minds are stolen by heedlessness do not hold onto the teachings that show benefit to oneself. Furthermore, the gods who dwell on the summit, abiding in great bliss, always with joyful minds, producing the sounds of lutes and musical instruments, adorned with various pleasing things, go to a garden called Matala. Then, having gone to the Matala garden, the gods become friends with each other. Those who are extremely happy and joyful in their minds, among the shoots and leaves of the seven jewels that are connected to each other, with hanging flower spikes, and inside where hundreds of thousands of bees gather, and in the gardens of the seven jewels, together with their many goddesses, sing songs. The extremely pleasant songs fill all the gardens and nearby gardens, and the echo of the rocks, like singing, makes them happy, and they enjoy happiness. The sound of singing, the sound of bees buzzing, and the sound of birds chirping, such pleasant and harmonious sounds gather together and arise. Thus, Mount Meru, which is extremely delightful, becomes doubly delightful with pleasant songs and sights that bring joy. There, the gods, together with the assembly of goddesses, possessing beauty, form, smiles, and charm, closely enjoy the assembly of desires, play, rejoice, and enjoy happiness. They remain in those places as long as they desire, creating and accumulating lovely and pleasing things, and each experiences them truly, until their karma is exhausted, abandoned, and not yet attained. Thus, they rejoice and play. For example, if it is exhausted, then after that, the desires of the heavenly realm and the multitude of pleasures will cease from there. After dying, just as karma approaches, they will be born among sentient beings in hells, hungry ghosts, and animals.

That can transform. If one is born among humans with shared karmic connections, then through this connection and affinity, one will become extremely happy. All things that bring joy to the heart will be satisfying and extremely delightful, and one will see beautiful appearances and the circumstances in which one resides. Then, the Bhikshu, knowing the ripening of the fruits of karma, should contemplate the abodes of the Thirty-three Gods. Through the wisdom gained from hearing, he can see the abodes of the Thirty-three Gods and the radiant, blazing appearances. There, he wonders, "Which beings will be born here?" Through the wisdom gained from hearing, he observes and knows that virtuous and excellent individuals who have performed meritorious deeds that will certainly lead to rebirth among the gods will be reborn here. For example, virtuous individuals, without deceit, not harming others, understanding the sacred Dharma, wishing to benefit all sentient beings, guided by right view, always reverent in mind towards the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, always with a moistened heart, those who have performed meritorious deeds will be reborn here. How many kinds of meritorious deeds are there? For example, repairing dilapidated monasteries or stupas, making the monasteries or stupas stable, or repairing the foundations, or when the property of the Buddha, stupa, or Sangha is on fire, entering the fire without regard for one's life, extinguishing it and rescuing it from the fire, or when people are being burned by fire, saving them with compassion, these are ways of doing good deeds. How many ways are there to refrain from killing and taking what is not given? If someone is walking on the road and finds fallen gold, silver, jewels, or other similar things, he will call out, "Whose is this? Whose is this?" If someone says, "This is mine," and it is indeed his, he will give it back to him. If no one claims it and no one speaks, he will think, "I will hold this for seven days," and then inform the king or great minister residing in that area, without stealing it, and will announce it.

It is so. At that time, if they rob without possessing the Dharma, then they should not be given to them, but should be offered to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. One should give alms in this way, and thus it is the cessation of taking what is not given. What is the abandonment of killing? It means that when one enters a path and walks, if the path is covered with earthworms, ants, frogs, and poisonous snakes, then out of compassion, one does not walk on them. Only looking at the results of karma, knowing the faults of samsara, and acting in birth and death, one also accepts many beneficial results, and goes around by another path. This is the abandonment of killing. A person who has taken vows, after leaving the body, will be born in the happy realm of high heaven, in the abode of the thirty-three gods, called the blazing radiance. Having been born there, relying on extreme happiness, being full of happiness, and practicing one's own actions, what is their happiness, it is difficult to express. To put it briefly, that place is a place of blazing light. Its special feature is that it is in harmony with the sunlight, and what is seen is also in harmony, but its light is not unbearable, so it is with the power of their actions that it becomes the cause of happiness and blazes. In that place, those who possess their own light rejoice, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of goddesses, in the immeasurable palaces made of gold, lapis lazuli, crystal, and agate, those whose minds are attached to desires rejoice, play and enjoy endless pleasures. They often see and hear the pleasant sights taken by the ears and eyes in the gardens where the trees are always full of flowers and leaves, and the flocks of birds always make beautiful sounds. Thus, in that garden, the trees are seen as the opening and closing of the eyes. With their great power and strength, they happily enjoy themselves in such gardens. Furthermore, surrounded by many gods and goddesses, those whose eyes and hearts are dazzled by the spectacle are in the gardens.
