The limbs of enlightenment are seven, and these seven become the limbs of enlightenment. Just as the limbs of the body, the limbs of the city, and the limbs of the dwelling become so, these also become the limbs of enlightenment. What are they? They are as follows: right mindfulness enlightenment limb, dharma discrimination right enlightenment limb, diligence right enlightenment limb, joy right enlightenment limb, serenity right enlightenment limb, samadhi right enlightenment limb, and equanimity right enlightenment limb. Among them, what is the characteristic of right mindfulness enlightenment limb? It is as follows: remembering the faults of conditioned dharmas, that nature is the truth, remembering that nirvana is peaceful accumulation, this is the first of the right mindfulness enlightenment limb. What is the characteristic of the second dharma discrimination right enlightenment limb? It is as follows: Discriminating the ultimate meaning with wisdom. Discrimination is the nature of the dharmas themselves, this is the dharma discrimination right enlightenment limb. Furthermore, repeatedly attending to those meanings, it becomes effort, diligence, and exertion, this is the diligence right enlightenment limb. Furthermore, manifestly desiring to attend, and becoming joy, this is the joy right enlightenment limb. Furthermore, attending to those meanings, how the nature of the body's dharmas and the mind's dharmas becomes capable and gentle, and thus happiness arises in yoga, this is the serenity right enlightenment limb. Furthermore, attending to those meanings, the mind does not remain apart from the object, thereby the mind is held, this is the samadhi right enlightenment limb. Furthermore, those samadhis, with equanimity, do not turn to other thoughts, this is the equanimity right enlightenment limb. The fruits of the limbs of enlightenment arise in various ways, giving rise to various wisdoms, various disciplines, and various abandonments of afflictions.

These limbs of enlightenment grow sequentially from top to bottom with a single aim, and the fruits are different. Gods, therefore, the seven limbs of enlightenment should be observed and contemplated with mindfulness. Here, seeking the bliss without intoxication, fearing the afterlife, the Noble Eightfold Path seeking the path to the city of Nirvana is: Noble Truth Right View, Noble Truth Right Thought, Noble Truth Right Speech, Noble Truth Right Action, Noble Truth Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Samadhi. Gods, Then, what are all these Noble Truths? What is the fruit? What is the characteristic? What does the Noble Eightfold Path possess? To this, Noble Truth Right View is to see things as they are, that is, to see the self-nature and common nature of all dharmas as they are. Generating intention towards these dharmas is Right Thought. Guarding Right Speech, that is, guarding speech karma with Right Thought, abandoning the four types of speech karma such as lying, this is Right Speech. Abandoning the three evil deeds done by the body and taking action correctly, this is Right Action. Abandoning the livelihood of unwholesome dharmas and guarding the precepts, this is Right Livelihood. Remembering these meanings and engaging in diligent effort, this is Right Effort. Remembering the meanings of these dharmas, being unforgetful like a noble person, this is Right Mindfulness. Remembering the meanings of these dharmas as they are, and making the mind one-pointed and firm, these are Right Samadhi. Whoever focuses on these Eightfold Noble Paths will not be under the control of the Lord of Death at the time of death. Furthermore, one should also extensively observe the abodes of nine kinds of sentient beings, namely: feeling, recognition, thought, touch, attention, desire, and faith.

And, mindfulness, samadhi, and faith. These ten great ground dharmas are primary, and they arise only together with the mind. To fully understand their nature, it is that the nature of each dharma is different. These dharmas arise simultaneously like sunlight, and the nature of these dharmas is that they arise together with the mind, neither more nor less. Among them, perception is the nature of enabling correct understanding, and whatever correctly understands the individual self-nature of all dharmas, that is perception. Intention refers to the mind's movement towards the three states of virtue, non-virtue, and neutrality. There are also three types: the nature of relying on the body, relying on speech, or relying on the mind. The aggregation of these three produces three kinds of feeling. If asked what the main content of the three feelings is, it is feeling pleasure, feeling pain, and feeling neither pleasure nor pain. The main mental engagement refers to entering into all dharmas. Desire refers to whatever thought is about action. The main aspiration refers to the confidence that generates self-assurance. Faith refers to having faith itself. The main diligence refers to joy. Mindfulness refers to not forgetting the object of focus, that is, the mind is not confused. The main samadhi refers to the one-pointedness of mind. Wisdom refers to discriminating dharmas, that is, being able to thoroughly discriminate dharmas. Furthermore, there are ten other great ground dharmas, and if one cultivates these dharmas, at the time of death, one will be controlled by the messengers of Yama, namely, disbelief, regret, forgetfulness, mental wandering, distorted wisdom, inappropriate attention, wrong aspiration, excitement, ignorance, and carelessness. These ten dharmas are the great ground dharmas of affliction, the factors that produce the existence of affliction, and the causes that the messengers of Yama can obtain. Now, I will explain the main points as previously stated.
