Other Brahmins saw those gods and knew their forms or behaviors, but they did not see those gods eating, did not see them giving alms, and thought in their hearts: Like this, these gods do not eat, do not drink water, then, without a doubt, if we do not eat, we can also be separated from the body and be reborn among the gods of the good realm high in the desire realm. They thus slander the results of karma and proclaim: Like this, not eating or not eating delicious food will lead to obtaining the high heavens. They also create evil treatises, and with other arguments and evil metaphors, they cause others to believe in these arguments. Like this, having inverted views of oneself and others, slandering the results of karma, will lead to separation from the body, falling into evil destinies, and being reborn in the hells of sentient beings. Like this, not seeing reality is the door to all evil destinies. A moment or an instant of those gods, or any such time, if counted in human years, would be very long. Those Brahmins thought like this: These gods are constant, stable, real, and unchanging in nature, and they also create the world and destroy the world. They thus create treatises and cause others to believe in these arguments, slandering cause and effect, which will lead to separation from the body, falling into evil destinies, and being reborn in the hells of sentient beings. Like this, sentient beings completely deluded by the enemy of the mind, in various ways do not look at reality, and not seeing reality, they create various false treatises. Then, like this, because it is not reality, sentient beings whose minds are completely deluded, that monk, having seen it with his own eyes, spoke in verses: The snake of the mind is disgusting, mixed with the poison of craving, controlled by five heads, tormented meaninglessly. This great river of craving arises from five directions. On this shore of that river, full of doubts, the other shore is a place of peace. It is easy to die without seeing reality, how can evil views be right? People deluded by evil views will fall into the hells of sentient beings.

Go to the intermediate state. Those deceived by false speech, All people possess wrong views. Seeing what is not a cause as a cause, Unbearable sentient beings go to hell. Being deluded about causes and effects, And being completely deluded about seeing that, Sentient beings with a share of suffering, Are deeply attached to the prison of existence. Seeing actions, fruits, and ripening, Likewise, birth and death, And seeing those very migrations, That person goes to the other shore. Children seeking desires, Are deluded by desires again and again. Like moths being deluded, Sentient beings are burned by the fire of hell. Not practicing bad asceticism, But relying on the practice of discipline, And those who take true view as important, Go from the human realm to the god realm. You are tormented by bad asceticism, And those who take wrong views as important, Are deluded by arrogance exceeding knowledge, And also delude other people. In the thick darkness of ignorance, They enter a great river, These beings become the cause, The nature of the world is suffering. The unbearable asceticism of the body, The wise ones say that. But only with the asceticism of the mind, They burn all the mountains of afflictions. With true wisdom as the guide, This liberation from the exhaustion of afflictions, That person sees it, It is obtained by being separated from solitude. With the power of other and different wisdoms, All these worlds are completely deceived, Whoever has false speech, Will never go to peace. The false speech of worldly beings, Is very much widely proclaimed, In hundreds of eons surpassing the world, It will never be proclaimed. Therefore, take the transcendent word, Why look at the worldly word? The words of worldly beings, Like poison, are seen as death in samsara. Not liking desire, constant happiness, Definitely creating merits, The transcendent word is good, The wise ones truly say so. Transformed by views and bad reasoning, People who are completely deceived by words mixed with deception, accumulation, and sin, Will fall into the evil realms of great darkness. Thus, in order to show the truth to those monks who do not see the truth, he spoke in verses: All these sentient beings.
