It does not arise, gods, because this exists, therefore this arises, because this does not exist, therefore this does not arise. Gods, also, this exists, therefore this arises is like this: if the fire of desire exists, there will surely be suffering, just as if there is fire, there will surely be burning. Gods, this is also because this exists, therefore this arises. If what does not exist, what will not arise? It is like this: if there is no desire, and no fire of desire, there will be no suffering of desire, just as if there is no fire, there will be no burning. Gods, this is also because this does not exist, therefore this does not arise. Gods, also, this exists, therefore this arises is like this: if there are parents and semen and blood, and the karma of certain birth and entering the womb, and the taking of the Gandharva, then the arising of birth exists. Gods, this is also because this exists, therefore this arises. If what does not exist, what will not arise? It is like this: if there are no parents, and no semen and blood, and no karma of complete experience, then the taking of entering the womb first will not arise. Gods, this is also because this does not exist, therefore this does not arise. Gods, also, this exists, therefore this arises, this does not exist, therefore this does not arise is like this: if this shore exists, the other shore exists. If what does not exist, what will not arise? It is like this: if this shore does not exist, the other shore does not exist, gods, this is also because this exists, therefore this arises, this does not exist, therefore this does not arise. Thus, mutually abiding and observing with causes and conditions, all conditioned phenomena arise with mutual causes and conditions, and arise depending on dependent origination, it is like this: with ignorance as the cause, there are actions; with actions as the cause, there is consciousness. Thus, all dependent origination must be widely understood. Gods, that Bhagavan, in that great palace for subduing the intoxicated, spoke the Dharma for five thousand years in the manner of counting human days and nights. Here, what I have told you is just a part of it. The Dharmakaya of the perfectly complete Buddhas, the Bhagavans, who are as vast as the sands of the Ganges, is one.
