Pa. Considering as a Shramana, considering as a Brahmin, whatever the actions of near acquisition, action, and the end of action, all those precepts have been thoroughly purified. Also, the two merits of precepts have been guarded. And also completely abandoned are killing and not giving. If asked how killing is extremely guarded, here for the tiny insects born within barley, wheat, and rice salu, they will not grind them arbitrarily. Thus, it is either for the sake of extremely guarding those beings, or for fear of not giving. Those barley and wheat will also not be sold. For oxen, horses, mules, and donkeys that are burdened with heavy loads and have injured backs, and those that have worms, they will wash them with water or chaff, and also perform rituals so that the worms do not die. Like this, taking them out with bird feathers, they will place those worms in other places where the flesh has decayed. With the fear of non-dharma, may oxen, horses, mules, and donkeys not be harmed! May the worms that have become worms also not die! Like this, they protect the lives of both. They also extremely guard small insects and ants, etc. In all ways, at all times, always wishing to benefit all beings, they do not let their minds be unrestrained day and night. They also do not harbor malice in their minds towards beings. First, they generate the thought of sentient beings towards other sentient beings, and they always guard small insects and ants, etc., and in all circumstances, they practice the limit of virtuous deeds. These are guarding killing, and these are abandoning killing. How is not giving abandoned? If asked how many ways there are, here, like that, practicing the limit of virtuous deeds, those beings such as frogs, lizards, dogs, or foxes that are caught, they will liberate them with other food. After liberating them, they will also give those foods to those beings that eat raw meat. Those hungry beings will also eat those foods, and like this, those beings are also extremely guarded. That will be reborn among the gods, and like this, not giving will die from among the gods and be reborn among the animals.

will be reborn, and those aspects are the abandonment of taking what is not given. One abandons it oneself and also firmly establishes others on the path of virtue. Those who have not entered virtue are also firmly established on the path of virtue. Those who have entered are repeatedly praised. The fruits of actions are shown, made into causes, and understood. Those aspects are the abandonment of killing and taking what is not given. How is it to enter into goodness? Even though one is poor, one lives by realizing the Dharma. Those who kill sentient beings for honey and the honey of bees give wealth and food and save the lives of the bees. That is giving the lives of sentient beings. Having abandoned taking what is not given, how is it to rejoice in giving? Even though one lives so laboriously, one possesses the Dharma and follows the Dharma. One gives food to those who have attained the four dhyanas or to other beings. Similarly, living laboriously, when beings fall into the hands of enemies and are in danger of being wounded and killed by weapons, one liberates them. Among all the gifts, the best is the gift of Dharma or the gift of life, becoming the gift of both. The virtuous person also causes others to do likewise. One also rejoices in what has been done, and that is to enter well into discipline. Possessing discipline, after separating from the body, one will be reborn in the heavens of the Thirty-Three Gods in the happy realm of higher realms, in a place that is very fond of the sound of songs and manifestly attached. Having been born there, one also makes offerings with what is emanated by virtuous deeds. For example, this extremely vast and all-encompassing grove is completely adorned. All of this is driven by well-done deeds. In this divine realm, not even a single step is not emanated by well-done deeds, or where the gods have not played, or where the aspect of happiness has not been enjoyed and died, or where the fruits of one's own deeds have been exhausted and declined. Wherever our bodies may appear, they are bound by the rope of craving and transformed by craving.
