On the branches and leaves, the gods and goddesses play together, and whatever they desire in their hearts, they obtain from there. In the center of those trees, that beautiful garden is adorned with ponds of gold, silver, and lapis lazuli lotuses everywhere. It is adorned with pure, immaculate pure gold trees. Everywhere is a vast, uncultivated field, extremely pure, extremely clean, extremely delicious, and adorned with great diligence. White, immaculate birds, pleasing to the eye when seen, delightful to the ear when heard, emitting various sounds, adorn it. In that garden, those birds that have silver feathers, their heads are golden, their bellies are lapis lazuli, their beaks are the color of parrots, and their eyes are like the color of red lotuses. Thus, the colors of all the birds are distinguished. Those trees whose color is like silver, golden birds reside on them. Those golden trees, silver birds reside on them. Those lapis lazuli trees, in the gaps of their branches, birds like the color of red lotuses reside. Those trees that are like the color of red lotuses, birds like the color of peacocks roam on them, eating all the fruits and also drinking honey. Those trees that are everywhere of the seven precious jewels, those birds with feathers shining with the seven precious jewels also play and make sounds. Likewise, swarms of bees are also in the many lotuses, doing various things, their bodies shining, having various thoughts of the times, entering the gaps of the lotuses, dwelling in the gaps of the stamens, feeling happy, playing with each other, and enjoying themselves completely. Like that, in the shade of such trees, in the place where all virtues are complete, the gods and goddesses together feel happy and enjoy themselves completely. That garden is also a place where all the virtues of all the gods are extremely perfect. When the gods are about to wage war with the Asuras, the king of the gods, Indra, says this to the gods: "Gods, prepare yourselves! These Asuras dwelling on Mount Moon are clearly harming the gods and obstructing the Dharma."

Gate. Having heard that, the gods of the Thirty-three Heavens went to the garden called 'Sudarsana'. After entering, all the assembly of gods and those who go before Indra enter in the manner of Sudarsana. After they have entered, in those four directions of the four quarters, there are four great beryl trees of the gods, exceedingly immaculate, and on the trunks of those trees the bodies of the gods appear like mirrors. Seeing those signs of victory, and also whatever gods have limbs separated or severed when fighting the gods and asuras, whatever images appear are visible within those trees. Whatever gods have limbs severed, they will be reborn immediately, but not if their heads are cut off or their waists are cut off; in that way, those gods will not be reborn. Just as the gods' heads are cut off or their waists are cut off, so will they be seen by themselves. Having seen themselves, they will accuse those gods. Those gods, in order to completely abandon the time of death, report to Indra in this way: 'These gods will perish when fighting with the asuras.' Having heard that, Indra will dissuade them, saying, 'Friend, do not go to battle! Do not become an obstacle to your life!' That monk thinks, 'Whose fruit is that?' Having investigated with the wisdom arising from hearing, he knows that it is because with a mind and heart full of compassion, he saved those who were prepared to be killed by the executioner, and that the ripening of that karma caused such trees to grow in Sudarsana Garden, and images appear in them like mirrors. Then again, the gods go to the garden called Sudarsana. Having gone, in the center of that Sudarsana Garden there is a garden, which is adorned by all the wish-fulfilling trees, and having entered there, the gods deliberate. They consider the size of the armies of the gods and asuras, and those gods discuss with each other what kind of army the asuras possess, and what kind of army the gods possess.

Then, the king of gods, Indra, spoke to the gods: "Those who rely on the Dharma will be born among the gods through the Dharma. When the people dwelling in Jambudvīpa, during times of strife, mainly uphold the path of the ten virtuous actions, and properly take up and practice the path of the ten virtuous actions, and also cause others to practice it, and when the seven types of physical and verbal discipline are also preserved without being broken, destroyed, diminished, firm, and without pretense, then, when the people of Jambudvīpa die, they will be born among the gods. Just as sand pours out when a sieve filled with sand is turned upside down, so too will people be born among the gods. Thus, the strength of the gods will visibly increase, and the strength of the asuras will completely diminish, and the diligence of the asuras will weaken. Then, the strength of the asuras dwelling on Mount Moon will be repelled by the gods. Then, at another time, when people who practice defiled paths of action cause the paths of virtuous action to be broken, destroyed, diminished, and do not practice them firmly, then, when the people of Jambudvīpa die, they will be born among the gods. For example, a strong person vigorously shakes a mango tree with fully ripe mangoes. When it is vigorously shaken, just as mangoes fall, so too will people be born among the gods. Then, again, in a degenerate time, people who practice extremely defiled virtue will arise, who do not protect the discipline of body and speech and do not practice it firmly. They are not very pure, nor are they constant. When they die, they will be born among the most inferior gods. For example, a person of little strength embraces a large, sturdy bilva tree with unripe fruit and shakes it vigorously, shaking it vigorously with great effort. Those who shake it are also very weak. When it is shaken, if any bilva fruit falls, only a few ripe ones will fall. Similarly, people who now practice defiled discipline will be born among the gods.
