It is like the gods dwelling in the clear, immeasurable palaces see. Thus, the gods dwelling in the Sudharma Hall and the gods dwelling in the Nandana Garden said to each other: 'Alas, like this, the gods dwelling in the groves possess supreme bliss, and we are exceedingly happy.' They enjoy the five celestial musical instruments, wandering wherever they please, going wherever they desire, dwelling at ease, walking without obstruction, going from place to place. Then, the King of Gods, Indra, also sat upon a thousand-petaled lotus, the stem of which was made of celestial gold and lapis lazuli, and descended from the sky together with the beautiful goddesses. The lotus manifested by virtuous deeds is so delightful, with goddesses on all the petals, wearing celestial necklaces and garments, adorned with golden ornaments, all exceedingly joyful, all intoxicated with the joy of possessing the five musical instruments, all facing Indra. Each of them is intoxicated with the pride of their beauty and youthful prime, five goddesses arrayed. All of them, together with the King of Gods, Indra, descend from the sky to the place where the gods dwelling in the groves are. The gods dwelling in the groves also saw Indra and were very pleased, and descended from those places as previously described, and went to the place where the King of Gods, Indra, was. Having arrived, they bowed to Indra with their heads and praised him with words. Those who went before Indra, and the gods dwelling in the groves with joyful hearts, surrounded Indra. Indra descended from the sky to the place he desired to go, whether it was a garden, or a mountaintop, or a grove, or a nearby grove, or a lotus pond, or another place. Those who went before Indra played there for a long time, and then returned to their own abodes. Those who went before Indra returned as they had come. Then, Indra also went to the celestial assembly hall, the Sudharma Hall. Those gods intoxicated with the delightful sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations also enjoyed pleasure as long as they desired.

, the deeds done and accumulated that are pleasing, will be happy until they are exhausted. After that, they will die from the realm of the gods, and after death, just as karma approaches, they will be reborn in the hells, pretas, and animals. If they are born among humans with the same fortune as humans, in accordance with that karma, they will always have supreme happiness, always be without illness, without harm, extremely rich in wealth, extremely happy, and likewise, they will be seen as becoming the king of a continent without fear of other tribes, or as becoming a regent. Then, monks, those who know the ripening of the fruits of karma will contemplate the abode of the gods of the Thirty-Three. With the wisdom born of hearing, they see how the abode of the gods of the Thirty-Three, called dwelling in various chariots, abides. There, thinking, "Which of the beings will be reborn here?" they examine with the wisdom born of hearing. Those who have previously prepared offerings at the stupa sites, whether they are of the royal caste, or of the ministerial caste, or are attached to the caste, are not afraid of karma. For those who destroy, the noble person cultivates with mind and heart, remembers the qualities of the Buddha, or praises the Buddha with extremely pleasant and clear words, and therefore averts or compensates. That person, after death, will be reborn among the gods of the Thirty-Three in the happy realm of heaven, in the place where various chariots dwell. After being born there, they perform extremely virtuous deeds, and with the five instruments of music, they rejoice, play, enjoy pleasures, and abide. There, by the fruit of other karmas, they will also be reborn, namely, by abandoning killing and not taking what is not given. For example, rescuing a deer from the life of a dog, not doing it oneself, nor allowing others to do it, nor rejoicing in what others have done. How does one not take what is not given? How does one abandon not taking what is not given? One is the owner of the land, or the king, or the minister.
