These are the places of mindfulness. Those who act in accordance with the Dharma, praising the gods for their merits, they rejoice here and rejoice in the heavens in the other realm. This place is seen by others, the wise protect the precepts, seeing the noble ones perfectly complete, they rely on peace in this world. Furthermore, the yogi dwells contemplating the Dharma within, following the Dharma, then with regard to the four words of the path of non-virtuous actions, false speech arises with distinctions. What are the types of false speech? That is, false speech that arises without connection between the beginning and the end of the speech, and speech in which the mind's involvement is frivolous, without connection between the beginning and the end, that is false speech. Accompanied by pride, and arising at times without pride, also being the nature of the cause of creation, that is not a cause of attachment to this life, nor is it a cause of increasing the path of action in this life, but is the cause of a place condemned by worldly people. Meaningless speech is false speech. This fourth stain of speech is the cause of generating non-virtuous paths of action, and the cause of arising, it should not be spoken, nor should it be rejoiced in, nor should one dwell in the false speech of others. The non-virtuous paths of action of the mind are greed, malice, and wrong view. Among these, greed is the extreme discrimination with speech and mind towards the wealth possessed by others, and the form of wealth, thinking that this should be mine, attending to it in an improper way, and immediately greed arises towards the perfection of others, confused in meaning, without reason. This is greed, the non-virtuous path of action of the mind, the unpleasant, disagreeable, and unlovable ripening, the mind is not peaceful, the untamed child, deluded by greed, he immediately discriminates with the mind towards the perfection of others, tastes, tastes again and again, completely transforms, constantly desires, constantly rejoices, and suffers when seeing the wealth and perfection of others. This is called greed, the great stain of the non-virtuous path of action of the mind. Furthermore, from the mind...

So, what are the ways in which negative actions such as arising from malice occur? When a yogi dwells observing the Dharma within the Dharma, through the wisdom arising from hearing or seeing with the divine eye, they see the malice of others' minds as a non-cause, and the perfection or imperfection of others. Seeing how they act as they please without cause, great displeasure arises in the mind, and malice causes beings to fall into hell. It is like hail to the crops of virtuous Dharma, it is contrary to the eye of correct wisdom, it is the fire dwelling in the darkness of the heart that burns all discipline, it is the cause of ugliness, it cuts off the steps of Dharma, it is the enemy of this world and the next entering within, it destroys single-pointedness of mind, it is incompatible with love, and it destroys the four noble truths: suffering, origin, path, and cessation. Malice is the best messenger of hell beings, therefore, virtuous people, noble hearers, and those who seek to hear the Dharma should abandon it. Furthermore, what is the nature of wrong views that are contrary to the holy Dharma, and the darkness of all evil views that truly arise in the heart? When a yogi dwells observing the Dharma within the Dharma, through the wisdom arising from hearing or seeing with the divine eye, they see that from beginningless time it has entered and arisen, it is the cause of the hell realm, hungry ghosts, and animal realms, it is darkness within darkness, it is extremely delighted in evil views, it is the opponent of the correct path, like swords, fire, poison, and cliffs, it destroys all beings, it views things perversely and wrongly, this is wrong view. There are two types of wrong view: the doctrine of inherent causation and the denial of karma and its results. The doctrine of inherent causation states that whatever happiness or suffering there is, it is caused by itself, and not by karma and its results. The denial of karma and its results is the belief that giving is without...

And so forth, named "etc.". Thus, these wrong views, the ten paths of non-virtuous actions, are all the root of making all things meaningless. The Holy and Excellent Dharma Mindfulness, Volume Two. Furthermore, if these ten paths of non-virtuous actions are reversed, how does it transform into actions with outflows and without outflows? The yogi who abides contemplating the Dharma in the inner Dharma, with the wisdom born from hearing, or seeing with the divine eye, this is temporarily the bondage of samsara, which is the cause of the exhaustion of Dharma. That is, the cause of bondage is non-virtue. The essence of the cause of liberation is virtue. Thereupon, by abandoning killing, one will give fearlessness to sentient beings included in samsara. At that time, this very body will be praised. Its complexion and senses will become clear. It will perform the action of long life. Whatever rakshasas, flesh-eaters, kumbhanda-like beings, and other beings that harm sentient beings, they will also protect day and night. Outwardly, the gods will also manifestly protect. Even after separating from the body, one will be born in the happy realm, the high heavens, the world of the gods. If one desires to experience the ripened fruit, one will experience it according to one's diligence. If one desires to truly experience the inferior, intermediate, and superior paths of enlightenment, then it will transform into these three forms. If one dedicates it to the enlightenment of the Hearers, then one will become an Arhat and enter into Nirvana. If one dedicates it to the intermediate enlightenment, then one will become a Pratyekabuddha. If one dedicates it to the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, then one will become a perfectly and completely enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha Bhagavan. The root of all Dharmas is life. Whoever manifestly protects this life will give all happiness, and among all giving, the most excellent is this, namely, the mind.
