It is great. It is the path of liberation. Among wealth, it is the supreme wealth. Among refuge, it is the supreme refuge. The wise say that it is the truth. Among appearances, it is the supreme appearance. Even in the eye, it possesses an eye. For those without possessions, it is a possession. Among ornaments, it is the best ornament. Truth is an inexhaustible treasure. All kings cannot seize it. Whoever speaks it, is the supreme goer. As truth adorns a person, adorned, they are beautiful like a god. Adorning a person with various ornaments, is not as beautiful as that. As in the next world, without father, without mother, without meaning, without friend, without relative, without refuge, therefore, always speak the truth. Among fire, the supreme is flame, among poison, the supreme is poison, the ladder of evil destinies, is falsehood, thus it is widely proclaimed. That which is like poison and fire to the touch, abandon falsehood completely. Those who are burned by falsehood, it is manifestly said that they are burned. Thus, all who manifestly strive, people should not speak falsehood. All afflictions such as fear, arise from falsehood, thus it is widely said. Thus, the monk sees the unfailing result of the action of falsehood, sees the qualities of truth, sees the reality of virtue and non-virtue, contemplates the retinue of the great weeping and wailing of sentient beings in the great hell. He sees the sentient being hell called "uttering sound, greatly uttering sound." He wonders by what actions sentient beings are born there, and examines it with the wisdom arising from hearing. Those who kill, take what is not given, engage in sexual misconduct, and drink alcohol, are as before. Speaking falsehood, in times of dispute, for the sake of one's own relatives, or for the sake of partiality, or spoken by those who are partisan. And after speaking it, they do not repent, do not regard it as a fault, but constantly rely on and cultivate it, and do it often, then when that person's body breaks and dies, they fall into evil destinies, falling into the sentient being hell of uttering sound, greatly uttering sound. There, these harms will occur, namely, that tongue with which they spoke falsehood, will be cut off by punishment,

Those jailers cut open the throat with a knife and then take out the tongue. After taking it out, they pour boiling alkaline water on it. The tongue inside emits a foul, rotten odor, and the burning Markotaka insects also eat that tongue. The bodily sensations, like all the descriptions of sentient beings in the reviving hells and so on, will be experienced by that hell being as long as his karma of lies has not been destroyed, abandoned, and exhausted, just as before. After that, that hell being will be liberated from that hell. Even after liberation, if due to karma that still needs to be experienced, he is not reborn as a hungry ghost or animal, but is reborn as a human with the same fate as humans, that person will become mad and poor. He will be mentally distracted, short-lived, disabled, despised by everyone, and will see himself become a person with a worthless fate. Then, monks, one who knows the ripening of karmic fruits, examines the surroundings of the Great Shrieking Hell. Through the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees that there is a place called "Sentient Beings' Great Shrieking Hell, Immeasurable Feelings." He wonders, what causes sentient beings to be born there? Then, through the wisdom arising from hearing, he examines and finds that those who kill, steal, commit adultery, and drink alcohol are the same as before. As for those who lie, they lie because of unpleasant causes such as greed or hatred, and they also instruct others, saying, "This person is our dear friend, very beloved, and kind to us, so we should be biased towards him and not speak the truth." If someone praises, extols, and forces others to do so, then that person, after death, falls into a bad rebirth and is reborn in the hell of sentient beings with immeasurable feelings. There, these harms will occur: all the descriptions of sentient beings in the reviving hells and so on will occur in the Great Shrieking Hell. Because the cause of the karma is heavy, the harm is also heavy. This heavy harm truly shows the ripening of karmic fruits. Thus, this is it.
