Those who share the same fortune will be born as humans in water-scarce regions and nomadic areas. The consequences of killing, stealing, and engaging in sexual misconduct remain the same as before. Then, furthermore, a monk, knowing the maturation of karmic results, observes the realm of the crying hell of sentient beings. Through the wisdom gained from hearing, he sees a realm called "hair ablaze." There, the sentient beings in hell wonder, by what karmic maturation will they be born here? Upon observing, he finds that those who have constantly practiced, cultivated, and extensively committed killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct are the same as before. If a lay practitioner who has the five precepts is made to believe that drinking alcohol is a virtue and is made to uphold this precept, then after his body departs, he will fall into a bad rebirth and be born in the sentient being hell of hair ablaze. There, the intensely burning rain of fire will burn and cook the hair and so on of the sentient beings in hell, down to their feet, and will burn intensely. The feet of those sentient beings in hell are eaten by dogs, their skulls are pecked by vultures with intensely burning beaks, and their bodies are devoured by foxes in the center. Thus, they are burned and devoured because of their own unwholesome deeds. Those tormented beings, weeping, say to the Yama's messengers: We have become objects of pity! Do you have no compassion? Do you have no peace? Do you not have compassion for us? After they say this, the Yama's messengers reply: How could you, obscured by ignorance, have committed so many sinful deeds! Unbearable suffering pursues you, this is not our cause. Because of ignorance, you did not guard the precepts and accumulated many sins. The result of accumulating many sins is near. We have no cause for this, this is your own cause. Those who commit sinful deeds are the cause of those deeds. Deceived by the snare of craving, whatever sins you have committed will torment you fiercely, what are you saying to us? Sin is not without cause, it does not ripen without having committed sin. Whoever has committed sin, that belongs to him.

Thus have I heard. Alcohol is the supreme poison; one should not indulge in drinking. Indulging in drinking causes the decline of virtuous dharmas. Whoever constantly indulges in alcohol, their mind becomes unstable, and there is no Dharma in a confused mind. Therefore, one should abstain from alcohol. Among the causes of decline, alcohol is said by the wise to be the most severe. It causes decline from being human, thus causing decline, so one should not indulge in alcohol. Indulging in drinking is an unpleasant and sinful dharma. Therefore, one should completely abstain from drinking, which is like poison. The faults of indulging in drinking are that it depletes wealth, brings about a bad reputation, and greatly increases laziness. Therefore, one should abandon it. Alcohol generates desire, and similarly, it generates anger and ignorance, and it does so repeatedly. Therefore, one should abstain from alcohol. Thus, as long as their sinful deeds are not destroyed, abandoned, and exhausted, the hell beings who experience the fruits of their own karma will be burned in hell by the fire of burning hair. These hell beings will be liberated from that hell, and even after liberation, if they are not born as pretas or animals due to other karma that needs to be experienced, but are born as humans with a shared destiny with people, then due to the related karmic result, they will be born in any place where there is absolutely no alcohol, and forms and tastes will not be apparent. Then, the monk, knowing the ripening of karma, contemplates the retinue of the Howling Hell, thinking: What other great retinue of the Howling Hell is there? Through the wisdom gained from hearing, he sees a hell called Fire-Dust Insects. There, by what ripening of karma are beings born? After examining this, he finds that those who constantly rely on, cultivate, and increase killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct are the same as before. Those who sell alcohol add water to it, and if the price is right, they sell it to others, thus giving rise to the faults of deception, taking what is not given, and drinking alcohol. When this person dies, they fall into a bad rebirth, that is, into the fire
