Through the power of constantly relying on and practicing, and doing it many times, beings will go to the other side of hell. There, in a place called "The Other Shore of the Boundless River," on the other side of a river filled with boiling and molten copper, hell beings see food, drink, many good dwellings, shade, and very bright forests, as well as a rushing river and cool lotus ponds. Seeing these, they run together as before, crying and quarreling with each other. "Friends, come here, come here! We have found food, drink, and comfortable dwellings," together as before. Then, after those hell beings hear the sound, other hell beings seeking refuge, seeking protection, seeking help, all run around. Then, those hell beings gather together and say, "Alas, from which direction will we obtain our happiness and refuge?" Then, those hell beings, seeing other hell beings, say, "Friends, look at the other side of that place called 'The Other Shore of the Boundless River,' there are food, drink, dwellings, gardens, and many forests," together as before. Then, all those hell beings, by that immeasurable and boundless river, harming each other, with similar tastes, covered with boiling and melting foam, all of them fall into it. After falling in, some melt like balls of ghee, some are eaten by burning crow beaks, some are swallowed by burning fish mouths, the various parts of their bodies melt, all of them melt in that river. To show how their respective karmas are like, it is said in verses: You are deceived by your mind, for which sons and daughters do you strive? Dragged by the rope born of sin, you are led to the place of hell beings. You with evil thoughts and attachments, for whom did you commit sins? Where have your sons, wives, friends, and relatives gone? In the human realm, what did you not do to me? For the sake of the last of humans, for the sake of your son, therefore you committed sins. Whoever has committed sins before, will not be harmed later.

Should not be done. Those deceived by sons and wives, sentient beings will go to fierce hells. What can wives and relatives do? What can sons do? Those who have the provisions of karma, alone are burned in the hell of sentient beings. Not despising the source of happiness, because good deeds have not been done, deceived by the foolishness of children, why not feel pain later? Those who are deceived by foolishness, greed and hatred follow. For the happiness of sons and wives, they all submit to these people. Sentient beings are the birthplace of karma, and enjoy the fruits of their own karma. Those who do good are born in the realm of the gods, and those who do evil likewise fall. Thus, the people of Yama show those sentient beings in hell who are gathered and destroyed: who will bear these karmas that you have done? Whether good or bad, one bears what one has done, what has not been done will not come, and what has been done will not be wasted. Thus, as long as the sins of the sentient beings in the hells of sentient beings have not been destroyed and abandoned, and have not been exhausted, they will be boiled in the hells of sentient beings for hundreds of millions of years. Thus, killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct should all be universally practiced and meditated upon, so as to obtain the fruits of increase. Just as you have obtained these, so after being liberated from these hells of sentient beings, if because of the karma to be experienced for other times, one is not reborn as a hungry ghost or an animal, but is equal to humans and is reborn as a human, then one will be short-lived, poor, have a bad wife, or be extremely greedy for the wives of others, or have no wife, and be despised and enslaved by others. Thus, those who are deceived by the power of karma, the fruit of which is in harmony with karma, fall into the hell of sentient beings, and all these things will happen. Then, also, monks, if they know the ripening of the fruits of karma and observe the wheel of the great gathering and destruction of the hells of sentient beings, then there will be immeasurable feelings, and the fruits that are cut like Alabuda fruits, and the vital points, and the cutting of vital points, and the gathering, and the terrifying sights, and the many fears, and the unbearable harm.
